Finally Boosted!!!!!!!
I just wanted to make sure that those of us who pre-ordered way back when the CAI price was $350 will be getting the $335 price and that we will be in the first batch?

I just canceled my order for a K&N 2nd Gen intake and pre-ordered a MS CAI from online mazda parts. I am getting pretty excited. Originally I didn't want to wait for the MS CAI, hopefully it will be worth the wait.

To all my pre-ordered customers..........
95% chance that yours will be shipping out to you early next week.
To all the people wondering if they should pre-order the answer is, what are you waiting for?

Just preordered mine. Two questions from reading the threads in the aftermarket forum.
1. MAF sensor problems. Are these behind us now? Mazdaspeed originally took the CAI off the catalog to fix this. Do you know anything about it?
2. It's the AEM design, do we know it's a rebadged AEM or something else? I'd still get it just for the piece of mind with MNAO and any future warranty work.

1- There where never any issues with the Mazdaspeed RX-8 CAI. I have heard this stated before and I can tell you that the only place that I ever heard it from was the rumor mill. The reason that the CAI took so long to pass CARB is due to the fact that at the time Mazda submitted this CAI for CARB cert they also submitted 3 other MS CAI's. Lets just say all had to pass at the same time or none of them passed, the RX-8 was not the one that didn't pass, it just got caught up in CARB's stupid regulations.
2- Yes AEM designed and built this for us but it is not just a re-badged AEM CAI. The over all quality of the MS CAI is held to higher standards than any aftermarket CAI on the Market, otherwise we wouldn't be selling it. Also the MS CAI is the only CAI on the market that will not void your warranty.

(Bagman) I was wondering the same thing because I know that AEM was involved in making the MS CAI... But the AEM CAI doesn't allow you to put the engine cover back on, so if its the same design it wouldn't be able to go back on as well.. this is just my two sense, please correct me if i'm wrong...
Secondly, my mazda dealer has told me that with regards to aftermarket intakes and exhausts they'll never void a warranty because its a small addition, unless it hydrolocks, but I was told on Mazda RX-8's its very difficult to do, because the filter must be fully submerged... but then the mechanic told me if you start adding bypass valves and go turbo/supercharger or any severe modifications than they will void your warranty... is that a true statement?

If you are referring to the japanese website, I could not find it on there either [navigating through context clues]. If you are questioning the products authenticity, drive your 8 to the local dealership and pick up a mazdaspeed catalog.

As far as the engine cover still be usable, I think it is but am not 100% certain and I really don't want to lie to you. This may be a wait and see type thing. When I get a kit in I will look at the install instrutions and post what I find out.

As far as the warranty qeustion, there is no hard and fast rule Mazda leaves it up to each service dept. to determine if a modification is a determining factor to the warranty question at hand. If you have a aftermarket item on your car and you have a warranty concern with a system that it directly affects then a dealer has every right to void that aspect of your warranty and you haven't a leg to stand on. Now to put this into the context of the CAI, say you have a CEL light that concerns your MAS. If you have an aftermarket CAI on your car your dealer is justified in saying that due to you having a aftermarket CAI on your car that you are responsible for any needed repairs, if you have a MS CAI on your car they cannot say that.
