I took mine out today and WOW. It is a lot different, sound wise. It is really loud, and if you shift before 4,000 RPMs, it is really loud. I noticed as soon as I started it up.

Performance wise, it felt to me like it pulled through the gears smoother.

I couldn't get the dyno for it though, regrettably.

This is a purchase I don't regret.

Definetly improved throttle response. I think I've gained a little power throughout the powerband. I like 3rd gear more NOW than I did before I installed both the CAI and the new MS exhaust. The combo of these two sound awesome. If you have a stock setup and someone drives by you with the CAI and new exhaust, just by the sound you wouldn't believe it's the same car. Any major Mazdaspeed engine upgrades coming out in the near future? ( that wont f*** our warranty ) I'm not gonna go with anything that voids my warranty. I wouldn't be suprised if Mazdaspeed is already developing a supercharger since it seems that everybody that has an Rx-8 would throw one on if it didn't void the warranty. ( And if it wasn't outrageously priced )

As far as I have been told the MS item to release is the Coilover kit.

I to would like to see a major power adder but I really don't expect to see anything new and exciting until 2nd Quarter of 07.

I have spoke to my shop foreman explained to him what would be needed to do it, we haven't done one in our shop. He said from what was described @3hrs is what he would charge.

By far this is the best intake for the 8. Install time was 2 hours but that is because I took my sweet time. I suggest this as a DIY mod.

I am very biased about my product but here goes. Mine is leaps and bounds better than the AEM.

I will let others answer this question. I have never compaired the AEM to the MS CAI. All I know for sure is that the 2 are not completely identical to each other just for the simple fact that the MS CAI is the only CARB certified CAI on the market. I could be wrong about that so please don't jump me if I am.

If anybody else has any input on this please give zenmoused some help.

Thanks,
JMBaggie

mazdaspeed cold air intake

I just got my mazdaspeed cold air intake installed and sounds great. I just had 1 question. Are you supposed to leave the engine cover on after installation to protect the engine from excessive dust or leave it off for extra cooling of the engine? Thanks.

Is the MS CAI too loud? Loud is fun for a couple of days, then it gets old real quick. Many can't deal with loud everyday and just want performance and not ricey noise.

Any thoughts on this or comparison to the sound level of RB CAI.

I am going to have to refer this to the forum members as I have no answer to this question.

Any help would be great.

Loud when you want, quiet when you don't. I love it.
