e mailing Pettit tonight for questions--maybe i will be the 1st in Georgia? Of course my wife will have me committed, my kids will call me stupid, but then ask for a ride, the dogs will not care and all the neighbors will be shaking their heads. Guess I will have to remind her of that Alaska cruise she took with the kids this summer while i stayed home and worked? Maybe I had alternative motives all along when i did that? Naaaaaaaa! Not me. Never. But does sound good.

Well you should also point out to your wife the benefits of the S/C.

1. It adds the power the car was missing.
2. Making it safer just it case you need to move out of the way quickly avoiding accidents.
3. You will be volunteering to go run errands.
4. Getting you to work faster so you can save more money to send her and the kids away on vacation so you can drive your 8 peacefully.

I don't think you will regret the leap into the Pettit s/c. I've had mine for a while and love it. My kids think I'm getting senile and regressive in my old age but they are the first to offer help in any mod. Paul and I have been talking about that water pump but I need to test the Paradox Performance radiator first. Cooling is a BIG issue in the desert.

thanks Phil--great looking car you have there.
I would not hesitate in getting the waterpump. That is the heart of any cooling system and where any cooling upgrade should start --imho.
Mine was ordered last night. I am on my way guys. When you turn 58 yrs old you start to feel you are running out of time---hey I wonder if they will give me a senior citizen discount? AARP? probably not. sigh. Has anyone installed with the greddy ultimate ecu?

I just ordered a kit and am planning on using the EMU. Cam didn't think it would be too big a deal when I talked to him on the phone as they've said they've successfully used the E-manage ultimate and blue in the shop. Sounds like the major disadvantages are that the stock ECU long-term fuel trims might force you to retune every few months unless you're very careful with the tune and the lack of a deceleration map to avoid going super-rich when you get off the throttle suddenly.

I'm starting with the RX-8 "Ultimate upgrade" wiring harness, but am making a few changes to fully intercept the ignition and injectors.

I took a ride in Pettit's car back when they were using the emanage, and it idled and ran great.

If Pettit is providing a base map for the EMU I'd go with that option.

Be careful young lady, you might just talk yourself out of a sugar-daddy. It's just that all you babies are just jealous of the discounts. Just come and hold onto my shirt tails and see if you can keep up.

in the old days in dealing with the canzoomer unit it was surprising how fast the oem ecu would trim out the settings. i guess if you want control, at present the int x is the only option.

I fully agree with you on the Canzoomer, tried that and let it go quickly. MM will argue with you about the X but it was my choice

the emu forces the pcm into open loop when it does modifications - so the fuel trims shouldn't effect it as it did with blue.

So do all versions of the stock ECU flashes only affects longterm fuel trims while in closed loop?

I've got the EMU in front of me right now (uninstalled yet). I assume thats what the little 4-wire dongle on the wiring harness does? What exactly is it doing with the refrigerant switch, throttle, and secondary air injection pump signals that can force the ECU to open-loop?

Well... I am now officially Boosted!
I drove from Virginia Beach to West Palm Sat. 1. Sunday morning we started to strip and install.
1st of all... millage was at 35600.
Coils-SHOT, Plugs-SHOT, Water Pump-On Death Row. I took pics and will post soon. Well all but the plugs, but they were a minor deal.
The install was actually quite easy, say for the wiring taps, which was easy too when Cam was the one doing them!!! There are a few "manual"modifications that need to be made to existing parts as has been discussed in the past, but they are rather simple when proper tools are available.
Another item that may make people happy, is we shot a DIY install video and made much better notes on processes order and details. This means the now infamous "DIY Pettit s/c Install PDF" will be updates and completely redone to cover items that were mistakenly omitted in the last version. Some things may remain that I noted were not needed, but will make it easier to access , etc and so on.

I am running the Inter-X, at this time. There is still no word on when the flash will be out, but it is close. How close? next week... early next year... still not known! Cam will NOT commit to it, until he stamps it as "ready for release". My Inter-X was pre-loaded by Scott from Mazsport with Juan's "marsredr100" map. I assume it was from one of the recent tune sessions from the week before. I say this because the Map had Juan's name titled on it and I had NO dongle with my Inter-X which I opened with Cam, but was loaded already. On second crank she fired right up and ran like a champ. This was Monday morning when we finalized the install and did a double check for everything. I beat the **** out of it the rest of the day. I noted a few decel issues and lag spots, but it was minor. Tuesday night we made some changes to the map, boosted the oil metering and I was happy. The car idles well both under AC load and wit it off. From throttle to decel it does not power out anymore. Man I love this thing. Frankly if I had to keep the Inter-X, i'd be fine with that.

Anyway, I left FL to head up to the Dragon US 129, NC. it was an 11 hour drive of about 800 miles. Not one issue or even anything to make me worried. I averaged about 275-300 miles per tank running on Premium and using Protek Fuel Additive. Every tank it drank about 1/3 to 1/2 quart of oil now. That is a huge difference to the last OEM Flash that had me to about 1/4 quart every 3 fill-ups.

Anyone who knows the Dragon US129 knows that it is hilly and twisty, The s/c ran supreme, the torque and extra HP was just what the dragon ordered. Once again I beat the ****-out of it. Both on the dragon and around town. The s/c was taken up to 130 mph with no worries. The thing actually made 6th gear a pulling gear up hill rather than the old cruising gear it was before. The dragon and most roads in the area require a well tuned car as you are on gas, break and clutch rather hard and rather often. I never once had any issue.

Sunday, another 500 miles of highway driving back home just like a top. I am at 37500 now and all is well.

The s/c make the 8 a brand new car. I do not want to make everyones expectations way more than what the s/c does, but the pulling torque really makes it feel hard and solid and the extra HP in conjunction with it just gives it that little extra Humf I have been desiring. I will defiantly be going stage III when Cam lets me!

Glad to hear your happy with your Pettit SC just like everyone else. I think that you forgot to mention that the Velocity Red + the flame job adds @ 1-3 more hp than the rest of us.
