from an old ex marine (discharged 1973)--welcome home. Dont know where you were or what you did, but the 1st 6 mos can be pretty challenging. Appreciate your service.
Coils are as cheap as sparkplugs now--so if any doubt get some new ones--I have seen a 20hp difference on the dyno. I have pictures posted from early 2006 identifing this problem--all 4 of mine were bad.

The reason I asked about the surge is because i intend on tracking some. I wouldnt think on the street this would be of concern but road racing is another story. Was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this.

Would someone please point me in the right direction of finding a dyno, I'm tired of reading about 50+, 50-70, 60-80, 90+, etc. Since pettit racing did "hundreds" of dyno pulls I figured there would be one. I remember seeing one a while back, and some vids. I just was seeing if more dynos have populated and if there is a detailed one, maybe past 7K rpms, in high res?

Thanks!

I am gonna say probably would not work. The oil filler relocation is right at one of the lesser mount points near the brake cylinder and the clearance of the intercooler may require the brace to be bent a bit. Better off selling it and getting the MS CF Strut Tower Brace if you wish to go with the Pettit s/c.
Note the Rotor shaped cap near the Brake fluid reservoir. That is the Oil filler location.

Well I wanted to show some new photos of the Pettit s/c with the Greddy Universal Oil Filter Relocation kit. I also wanted to show the Gauge set-up, but it was too dark to take photos of it. I'll add day and night photos later.
Anyway, jskup1 and I did the install Monday and for some reason (we did it during the day and not at midnight like we normally work) this project kicked our asses. The biggest ouch was we did not plug up one of the 1.8 million NPT holes on this thing. Needless to say we spewed about 2 quarts of oil on the frame, block and Jon's floor. After we corked it up... the damn upper oil temp NPT was leaking so we had to move it down to the stock oil filter location mounting unit. What an Fing pain. As the Sponge Bob narrator says... "12 hours later" we finally have it near done and now it is time to share.

Note the Oil Filter located on the Left and the Oil Fill located on the Right side.

Stock oil filter location connector.

Close up of the new oil filter location.

Close up of the new oil filler location.

Yay!

New coil relocation.

Oil dip stick location. It is impossible to see at night so I got a pen light so I can check oil at night.

If you do not go with the oil filter relo kit... you can easily get to the stock oil filter right through this crevasse.

Enjoy!

Thats a really nice part, looks about strong enough to be a good strart for a tube frame. Beefy but id have to say overkill for strut bar. Maybe you can get in contact with that corperation and mention a blowmold carbon fiber or really thinwall aluminum version for street use that will fit with the pettit kit. I bet that would look hot. Good idea but must go lighter to benifit from it, id buy a carbon blow mold version though. Ow seven stock rocked but to bad I was to involved and worn out from the install to even look at the 4 rotors and the new 7.

Pettit has it going on! No int x units available (not at mazsport either for sure--possibily one but not sure) New shipment is arriving however. Hard for me to wait. In the past waiting has usually been a good thing. but hey dont they know I dont have long to live!! JK
Will get what I can get--- at least get a deposit down.
rotor on guys!

Mine is synchronized. Oil temp and Water temp are almost always in the same temp range.

My old stock pump wasnt failing ... yet. but ahh, better cooling wont hurt I guess.

SSX Pettit live install

azlizard posted some nice pictures of the install on the Phoenix caravan thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=324

I also have some pictures (though not as good):
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=180

And I have one I'll add here of the Pettit crew.

Both myself and my wife had a great impression about Pettit. I just love these small companies where you can talk face to face with the designers. The level of dedication to their product is amazing. Cam was fussing about oil smudges from dirty hands on the blower and the new Jabsco/Bosch pumps having a slightly longer strain relief rubber boot than the previous-- all of which seemed unimportant to me. The fact that Cam lent me his *own* Int-X until I can get the EMU installed Thurs without really even knowing me is a nice change from the level of trust companies usually give their customers. I really hope this product does well for them.

As for me, the first 3 days with the S/C have been a blast. I was surprised that going down the freeway and cruising you hardly can hear the blower at all-- after hearing about how some people say these are so loud, I was expecting it. The sound it makes just tooling around town is just exotic-- my wife and I especially like the subtle catlike "meow" sound when you get on the clutch to shift, but don't time getting off the gas right such that the RPMs blip up by about 250 before engaging the next gear. She likens it to what it might be like driving a space-ship. As for the power -- definitely enough for me. I agree with somebody else's observation that it really drives like a stock 8, but amplified. I really feel the need to rev past the redline and have bumped against the rev limiter more than a few times trying to relearn when to shift.

Great review, glad to hear that the blower has been working well for you.

I have to say that this was my first opportunity to see the product first hand after seeing all the pictures online. I was able to look at Phil's car with the blower installed and was very impressed at the construction and design of the blower.

I'm no engineer, but I gotta admit that the blower looked damn cool. I'm looking forward to see how the product progresses with further refinement and tweaking.

Heck he is as old as I am?! lol! (thats a good thing)
I will be finializing my investment withdrawal this week guys, it get more complicated than you think at times--we went what the hell and decided to buy a boat also(Sea Doo Challanger---sweet!), INT x being built and Scott assures me that the latest best map will be in it---(found out we know some of the same poeple in my hometown---(small world). I do have some ideas about the cosmetics of the package--I will have to wait and see how those work out.
I am going ahead with a oil filter relocation kit (Summitt Racing) in further prep.

Do you have a link to their oil filter relocation kit?

Or is it the same one as the RX7 one?

Good luck!

Get s/s braided hoses and don't use the rubber ones that come with the kit. Then when you route them you can forget them.

Joff: Rev limiter?? With the X??? I'm not an expert but I don't think you have a rev limiter any longer. You might want to ask MM about that as it may just be the way the X is programed. Hell my a/t no longer has rev limiters.
