$239 for tire and rim protection

The dealer in Atlanta offerred me:

$299 for 3yrs/unlimited miles of tire and rim protection

I said no, because I always say no first.

He dropped it to $239

Then I said maybe, give me the info.

Anyone got this offer or have experience with it?

He says it covers rim scrapes, tire punctures etc. They will replace or repair.

My friend has similar coverage for his Lexus.

He has been through 4 wheels now and the insurance people give him hell every time. (He lives in pot hole hell so it isn't really all his fault).

Anyway the insurance is usually offered by some third party not Mazda or the dealership. Whatever you do, read the fine print.

They automatically added this to my bill and I caught it right before I signed the check. They wanted $200 for a 3 year policy, but I told them to cram it with walnuts... My insurance should cover this kind of stuff (tires not withstanding - but they have their own road hazard), so no need for two policies...

I got what I think was a good deal - I had already decided to buy my '8, and then the salesperson tells me that the purchase includes 'tires for life' which means that once the treadwear reaches a certain point, they will replace the tires for free as long as I own the car. Now, the stock tires are Dunlop 8090's, so I'm guessing they would replace with similar ones when the time comes. I'll be sure to ask what they will be replacing with, so I don't get stuck with something less than par. So, I guess the jury is out until I need it.

But on top of that, the little card I get is also good for lots of other goodies, such as 10% off on any parts ordered (and I get to use the Mazda 20% rebate on top of that! :D ), plus some other things that I can't recall at the moment.

In any case, the price was right ($0)!
