I did recieve the $500 college grad check 1 month ago though. Both rebate forms were submitted at the same time.
On whether the Gerber rebate is valid?

Always make the dealer work for his money, don't be left waiting for rebate check to come to you-if the dealer wants a sale they'll give you the rebate and be reimbursed.

Stuck in a love triangle
I called Mazdas customer service number today (800-222-5500) and was told twice by two different reps that 2004 RX-8s are not eligibe for the Gerber rebate (along with two other 2004 vehicles). All other new vehicles are eligble. They said the reason for thisis probably because most dealerships are offering their own private incentives now to get the 04s off the lots for those 3 models.

Hi can you give me that contact at corporate? I am in the process of buying an 04 rx-8 and the dealer is telling me he thinks gerber is probably NOT good on 04 RX-8s. Thanks, you can pm me.

If you have no children and did not get the ad mailed to you from Gerber, you do not qualify.

Stuck in a love triangle
I heard some unfortunate news this afternoon that relates to the 2004 RX-8 and the Gerber rebate. Effective March 30th the 2004 RX-8s were no longer eligible (along with 2 other 2004 vehicles) for the rebate because Mazda gave dealerships cash back on those 3 vehicles. And even if you persuaded a dealership to accept the rebate and slash $500 off, I was told that Mazda will reject the rebate once they see it is for a 2004.
Oh well.
Oh well.

I took delivery of an 05 on 3/9. I did not know about the Gerber rabate at that time. Last week, I came across this thread and submitted the form. Three days later, I received a certificate from Mazda. Then this morning (Apr 2), I showed the certificate to my salesperson. He did ask for the ad because it's listed on the instructions. I just showed him a printout of the website where I submitted the form. He did not ask further and went in to discuss with his business manager. Five minutes later, he came out with a printed rebate form for me to sign and indicated on the form that the check will be mailed to me.
So far, it seems that I would receive the rebate. But nothing is real until I see the check. I will post another message once I receive it.
UPDATE:
Believe it or not, I received the $500 rebate check today. It's been just a few days over a month since I submitted the application at the dealership. I can't be happier. :D

I have posted scans of the "Gerber Ad" you are supposed to bring with you to the dealership. If you have a quality printer you might be able to print this on photo paper double sided and cut it out and make it look "pretty real". Another thought is if they ask for it tell them you didn't bring it with you, but you can fax it to them. Via fax a copy would for sure pass.

You need to print it double sided. It might be worth taking the images to a "pro" and getting it done.
My dealer required the (real) Gerber original and would not accept my copies. Of course, I did not spend much time printing the copies since I had the original to give them. I don't know if they would have known the difference if I had printed it double sided on a glossy card type stock.

Thanks to everyone for this thread. I purchased a Shinka last night. Used the $500 Gerber Rebate. Dealer didn't ask for the original flyer. The only comment that the finance guy made was that this was the first time he had seen this offer. I was already getting a good deal on the car and an extra $500 savings was a real BONUS!!!
