'05 Shinka or '06 GT?

I can get an '05 Shinka with 6500 miles on it or an '06 with leather - for about the same price - any thoughts? Is it so that the '06's have more HP than the '05s? I can't afford an '06 Shinka, although I love them. For those having a hard time finding them, as I've seen in other threads - there are about 6 in Western Mass.

Ah - yeah - d'oh -I just realized that the HP change was only in the AT's - only a manual for me, though. It would defeat my purposes to have an AT. Anything I should watch for with an '05 with 6K miles?

I love the color of the '05 Shinka, and the fancy seats - but I also really like the two-toned black and tan seats - how does the upgraded suspension feel compared to the rest?

i would personally go with the shinka because of the unique color of the 05's which sets it apart from the others and its also a beautiful color

I would get the '06. I have an '05 Shinka and really love it, but for the same money, I'd prefer a new car over a used one, just for the peace of mind of knowing that it hasn't been abused (not broken in properly, grinding gears, etc.). And yeah, the keyless entry/start sounds cool. Also, the '06 has every little improvement Mazda's come up with since the 8 came out (like the AC condenser screen, for example). Just my 2¢.

Get the '06. Personally I think the whole "Shinka" thing is overrated.

Well, I'm off tomorrow to haggle for the '05 Shinka. I really considered the '06s, but can't get around the colors I can find.

So - last minute input: It's got 6500 miles on it, they are asking 27000 on the lot, posting an internet price of 24900. The guy told me on the phone they would probably come down $1000. There aren't that many '06s left in my area - the inventory has been cut in 1/2 in the 2 weeks I've been looking hard. There are '05s within 150 miles, all with a few more thousand miles, this is the only Shinka (really, I just like the color and the upgrades). There are GT's around, maybe a thousand or so cheaper.

I figure I ask for 22K, be willing to go to 23K, but ask for some aftermarket options - this one hasn't any. I kind of like the lines without the wing - but I could ask for them to throw in the fancy carpet mats, door edge guards, rotary accents, wind deflector, exhaust finishers and front and rear splash guards. Oh, and strakes - I really love those. Maybe I'll only get a couple, but I might get something. I intend to buy an extended warranty, so I can throw that out last minute - knowing they get big incentives to sell those. It is a Suburu/Mazda dealership so I think they'll have some stuff on hand.

Any thoughts?

Im partial to the shinka!!
why do you want to buy the extended warranty??
your offer seems a little low...I would expect them not to take it...you may have to increase it
good luck

Because I'm often cash-flow poor - and overly cautious, perhaps. I'm getting pretty excited - but after spending all night really looking at pictures of other 8's I'm not sure I want half the stuff I want! I really like the straightforward way it looks right now.

Talking

Holy Crap!!

I picked up the new baby today - the dealer is about 80 miles away on some windy roads and a little bit of highway. What a great drive! I guess you all know how I feel ...

I got the Shinka for 24.9K - they threw in most of the cost of a tire/wheel warranty plan - and splash guards, rotary accents, carpet mats and door edges. It does have some small scratches and chips, I'll do a few hours on the boards tonight to plan my approach to them. The dealer suggested getting a set of steel wheels for weight for the winter - will also look into that.
Thanks for the help guys.
