2004 deal

I've found a Nordic Green 2004 8 with Grand Touring and Navigation. MSRP is $33,100 and the dealer made there first offer to me at $26,544.

Problems, I don't really want the Navigation, and the two big things I do want are Sirius Sattelite Radio and a spoiler. I wouldn't mind the appearance package, but no big deal, and I figure the Rotary Accent package can easily be ordered on its own. Spoiler is no problem, dealer actually left me a message saying that they would half the cost of adding the spoiler if I take the car. As far as Sirius goes, I think they would have to take out the current radio head unit and install a '05 and then install the Sirius stuff. In his message, the salesman said $700 for that, but I'm not sure if he understands that they need to install another radio head unit.

Another problem, the car had to be jump-started before we test drove it, which to me means it has been sitting there for a while. This makes me think:
1) I can probably get this car for even cheaper than the above quote.
and
2) Should I be worried that this car may have some problems?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

How many miles on it? If its new sitting shouldn't be a worry and its not unusual to have some new 04s still sitting. If they haven't bothered to drive it the battery should be the only problem. As for what you want on it and what it has, thats really going to have to be your choice. I only got the sport package because I wanted the headlights and DSC. No need for leather, nav, etc. and I am perfectly happy. Got my 04 Nordic Green sport package, 6 cd in dash, spoiler and spare tire for 24,600, Sept. 04.

If you do decide to buy it go here http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ocs/index.html and read all the TSB's applicable, call the dealer and tell him you want all this done prior to the paperwork.

$26.5 is a great price, you might beable to do better....
As for the NavSys.... you can always convert it to a DVD viewer.
It should have some time left on the warranty... ask the sales-person.
I bought my loaded GT 04 last June and the only regret I have is
not being able to put on an after-market rear spoiler
(that is, without filling the OEM mounting holes).
Good Luck and don't get sucker punched

This is insanity that there are so many 04 models left. Hell, I kindof wish I had waited a year before buying mine. I'd have saved a fortune. I looked at my local dealer, and they have just as many 04 models sitting there as 05 models. What the hell happened? In a few months car dealers will have 06 models out, and the 04 RX8 will still be for sale? I predicted this would happen last year, and unfortunately I was right. Don't get me wrong, the RX8 is not selling badly, but they produced it WAYYY too much in 04, and you'd think in 05 they wised up and produced much fewer models. I guess they anticipated more demand then received. That's kindof sad to see so many unsold 04 models left. Hell you can still pick up a Yellow RX8. My dealer has two left. I'm stunned!!

Well there was one at my local dealer about the same and found out from a friend that it was rodent infested, they replaced everything though, I'd beware.

Ew, gross! I can take an educated guess as to which dealership that was.

I've noticed the same though, a few 04s still on the lots. I wonder what happened, but at the same time I like not having many 8s on the road.

The 04's down here are dwindling fast since Mazda is offering a $2500 rebate and another $1500 rebate if you finance with them. The only colors you can find in an '04 in south Florida now are green, yellow, and red. Unfortunately, the yellow and red are not my kind of colors. They look good, but not my style. If they can get an '05 radio unit in the green one and install the Sirius, then I beleive I will become the owner of an 8 very soon.
