2005 ordering price
I ordered a 2005 Mazda Rx8 for a 100 over invoice...............whatever the price turns out to be with the price increase...........i will buy for a $100 over that invoice. I am very happy about this...............I contacted about 15 dealers........and finally found one who was willing to deal at this agreement on a 05. others were talking msrp or $800-1000 over invoice

Turns out you can wait for the 05 model and not have to pay much more for it, although the 04 models are selling way below invoice. The dealer here is offering them for $1000+ below invoice on the 04s. I noticed same thing with subaru. The 05 STI just came out and it was selling right at invoice or below. I don't think they have any choice, because thre is no demand for the 05 model. It's not like a mass of people are waiting for it. If they aren't buying the 04 model, there's no way people will pay anywhere near msrp for the 05. When that day comes to where the rx8 is majorly upgraded in power, performance, and body style, and transformed into something different, then we'll see close to msrp prices.

To bad here in the Midwest they aren't offering any deals and you will have to haggle with them to death to get a price anywhere near where you guys are talking about
Right by my house the dealer has 36 RX-8s Left...still trying to sell them at MSRP and they are doing it too...the only offer they have is 0% financing for a certain amount of time...what a scam...
Thank goodness I bought my '04 from a trade in where it only had 4000 miles on it, fully loaded and hadn't been taken out in weather below 60 degrees/garage kept too

Denzalo,
Did you check what S-plan price was on an 04? Wife and I are trying to decide between an 04 @ $24,400 or ordering an 05. If it's about the same price then we'll go with the 05 for the extra resale value.

Same price. The deal is, when I wanted to order, I thought I was getting an '04. I wanted a late build date because the crap they had on the lot was old. Salesman left me a message saying I was getting an '05. S-plan usually always means its close to invoice if not slightly below. It's a nice way to get a good price, since there aren't a whole lot of Mazda dealerships in my area close to where I live anyway. Definately get an '05. What model were you offered for the 24.4k?

We were looking at a black 6 speed cloth interior. Basically no upgrades as I like to modify things. :D Helps that my current boss used to be the sales manager for one of the local dealerships. S-plan for that one puts it $700 below invoice.

They probably won't go as much below invoice on the '05. Depends on the dealership I guess, and who you know I'm just happy I have S-plan, not a whole lot of mazda dealerships around here so they don't have to bend over for the customer.

It seems that they should be able to give a very good price when you order an 05 too. After all, the car won't be sitting on their lot. It comes in, gets unloaded, they wash it, and call you to come pick it up and do the paperwork.
But, they also know that most people are going to prefer the newer model, so demand for 05's will be higher than 04's which makes it more likely they will deal on 04's vs 05's.
