2005 rx8, do I need a dealer warranty
Hi guys,
I am looking at an 2005 rx8, which has 67K on it, very clean record, and good serviced. the dealer ask for 11700 or the car(still negotiable).
the engine was replaced on 2011(shown as Short block replaced on carfax).
The dealer also provide a 5 yr 100k mile warranty from the date of purchase. the cheapest powertrain warranty costs $2500+.(including engine\ turbo\suspension\ trans\ axle\seals and etc.)
Seeking for advice: should I pay the big bulk of money for the warranty. is that really useful for this 05
thanks a bunch(enclosed warranty file)

It doesn't appear to be a Mazda warranty, so I would say No, it most likely isn't worth the extra money. You would be better off putting that $2500 into a savings account, and using it to fix any issues that do come up.
And of course, if you do buy it, the very first things you should have looked at/replaced are the ignition coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and it might be worth having someone take a look at the physical condition of the catalytic convertor.

call Mazda up and get a quote on their Extended Protection Plan. That $2500 seems a bit steep. I didn't even pay that for a 7 yr/100k warranty on my Chrysler 300 SRT8.
