Question 8000 Miles Vs 25000 Miles (RX8 DESPERATE HELP

Hey , ok I have two choices
First:
2004 , 8000 miles Rx8, Auto Standard Version

2003 , 25000 Miles RX8, Auto Fully Loaded Leather seats, Sun roof everything.

They cost preety much the same.

What Should i do. Im afraid That 25000 miles one has too much millage and could have more problems but i also heard the rotary gets better when it has more milage on it.

So help me put here! Im confuses

are you going by the actual build date on both, or just what the seller is saying? Cause there is no 2003 model year.

mine didn't even run good until 25k+ miles. it's even better at 50k. I'm dynoing a good 25hp more than i did at 12,000 miles.

that said they are both auto's. which means if they haven't been abused they probably are going to have problems. you read that right. the autos are known to carbon up because they are never driven hard, and it causes all kinds of problems all of which usually end up with engine replacement. unless the price is close to 10-12K you are going to be better off finding a manual or just buying an auto new. plus the new autos are 6speed and have the 6port engine. the old autos are only the 4port.

In other countries they were released earlier than '04 if I recall correctly.

Where are you located faizan?

Definitely check the date that is on the information plate on the inside of the door jam on the driver's side.

If all the technical service bulletins and warranty work has been done on both of them they are very similar. Personally I would rather have the newer 6-speed version of the auto with the higher powered 6-port engine.

If you can drive stick there is a noticeable difference between the auto and the manual transmission in those years.

I test drove the auto before the stick because my wife hadn't learned how to drive stick. We decided on the manual 6-speed because it was such a difference in power.

25hp more with age? I know R&T's test car was noticably faster 0-60mph with 40K mi. on it, but 25hp? I hope that is true.

The thing is im all teh way in Pakistan and mazda does not have an official presence there. People are importing from Japanese auctions. So all these models are japanese.
Can you tell me when the newer 6 speed auto was introduced? How can i tell by just looking at the auto whether its 6 speed auto or the 4 one?
Never Bought a rotary before.

Looks like the 6 speed auto came out for the U.S. 2006 model.

How to tell is the horsepower is 212 vs the 197 granted the Japanese HP should be higher due to the availability of higher octane.

Some say wiki can be wrong but it seems okay from skimming it.

Are you sure you wanna buy a rotary engined-car in a country with no official Mazda presence? Are there rotary mechanics where you live? Do you know what is required of you as an RX-8 owner? If you have a lot of traffic and consider a manual transmission to be a pain as a result of it, I can only assume that you're not in it for the driving experience. Are you sure you want this car?

To answer your question above, I got hold of the 6speed AT news here in Aug 2006 http://rotarynews.com/node/view/823. It says the 6speed AT will start selling (I don't know whether it's Japan or USA) in October.

FYI: Leather seats can get extremely hot in hot weather, especially if they're black. Sunroof kills what little headroom there is and probably affects chassis dynamics. Sunroof is great for ventilation though.

I personally would get the base model if it has DSC and sport suspension. But I intend to keep my vehicles at least 7 years. You'd probably be able to get more leverage when you resell the vehicle if you get the loaded one. 12k miles is not that much of a difference. I think the Japanese really do not like buying used cars, which is why they put a tough penalty on mileage.

You can get some fantastic deals on used cars in Japan.
