Anyone bought one in South Florida?

I might be in the market for a new car over the winter break coming up. Just curious if anyone in south florida area has one of these beauties, how much they paid, and from which dealership? I am going to school at UF, so I wont be home for over a month to check out prices and I wanted to have a head start. All help greatly appreciated

Fliggil,

I have posted this information before - but please know I get no personal reward by promoting my dealer or sales rep. I also want you to know that my wife and I were quoted $4,000 above MSRP at a large Central Florida dealership. Fortunately, they're not all that greedy. Lynch Imports in Daytona Beach, and our sales rep, Arnie Gralnik @ 800-406-5229, are giving us a great deal at $1,500 below MSRP, PLUS, you may be eligible for the $500 recent college graduate rebate from Mazda. That adds up to a nice $2,000 below MSRP, and Daytona Beach isn't all that far from Gainesville. You may not have to wait. Good luck with your new car.

Ex-Gator here. In South Florida I checked out four dealerships.. I finally settled on Gunther Mazda in Ft. Lauderdale. It is a smaller dealership, but I was very happy w/ the way they conducted business. At the time many dealers wanted 5K over MSRP. They went MSRP, and threw in a few goodies.. The service departament is also very good. Give them a call when you come back.. and GOOOO GATORS!

I live in Vero Beach...its a small town directly inbetween Melbourne and West Palm. I checked out 6 dealerships, anywhere from Melbourne down to West Palm and the two that were offering the lowest deals were Wallace Mazda in Stuart and Dauglas here in Vero Beach....good luck finding a good deal.

Good Experience: Marlin Mazda

Just wanted to share my very positive experience at Marlin Mazda here in South Florida. First, my internet query was promptly answered. When I arrived at the dealership they were expecting me and had a good idea of what I wanted. Jim Cunningham and Jerry Polliard are an internet sales force tag-team. I worked extensively with Jim.

Rather than negotiating from MSRP or higher, we started straight off from invoice. Based on my research I had a good idea what was and was not reasonable. There was no BS, minimal wasted time, and most importantly, I felt like he was working to get me the best deal possible. I soon walked out with the exact car I wanted ('04 Nordic Green RX-8 6 speed), with all the options I wanted (GT, brown leather, spoiler, spare tire kit, side and rear flares, moonroof, rotary accent), and nothing I didn't want.

One of my best car buying experiences ever. Hope others find the process as enjoyable as I did!

Have had experience with Gunther

Had purchased a miata from them (gunther) about 3 years ago. Price was fair value, not excellent, not terrible. Buying experience was good. The car, a used one, was so good I hated to trade it in for my rx-8, but couldn't justify it sitting in the garage.

Their service department was also very good and we used them for anything more serious than an oil change. I would reccomend them, assuming they haven't changed majorly in the last few years. They are also a volume seller, so they can probably have more play in price.

I bought mine, leased actually, at Delray Mazda. Had to dicker a bit but eventually got a good deal. After a year of driving pleasure, the wife is insisting on a lux sedan so my baby will be up for sale soon! Or, maybe the wife!

DrRockin99 has a point, but with a face like mine, replacing the car is easier!

I know this is an old thread, but I am a new user and wanted to inform everyone about my experience with Gunther service. They tried to tell me that my Rx-8 (which I had bought used w/ 2000 miles) had been crashed and that they couldn't honor my warranty for minor repairs (door lock, etc.). Checked the carfax on the car (clean) and drove it down to Marlin where they are taking care of everything. An informed source tells me that its a common scam for dealers to tell you the warranty doesn't cover something, so then they bill you persoanlly AND mazda. Shady.

Lynch Mazda is pretty good. I was speaking with them and they really worked to try to make the deal work. The other Central FL dealer (the best selling one...so they say) tried but wanted to rape me on the deal. They try to make their yearly profit on one person...so I said C YA.

Note, I have not shared something with you guys/gals....more news to come!
