Question Ask me!( a Sales Consultant)

I own an '05 rx-8, velocity red, no spoiler due to personal preference, gt appearance pkg, etc. I also sell cars fo a living, I 've noticed that some of you may have some questions on fees and other things presented to you when you buy your nice, new 8. I'm here to help, ask any question, yes even ask me about crooked salespeople, they exist. I'm here to help you get the best deal possible.

Enad58, though I already have my RX-8 I do appreciate what you are trying to do here.

Sounds like you're being sincere, thanks.

I, too, sold cars while I was in college, until earlier this year. I sold Hondas for most of the time, but Mazdas, too, and BMWs at the tail end of my time there.

The answer is YES, you get a check back. I sold a '91 Porsche 911 Cab to a couple and they traded a M-B E320 4-matic wagon in and they got a check for the difference. Now, in NY, you only pay tax on the difference between the 2 vehicles, if you're buying or doing a balloon payment (but NOT a lease). So, if you're buying a $20,000 car and yours is worth $15,000, then you pay tax on $5,000. However, if the car you're buying costs less than the one you're trading in, then you do not get any tax credit back. You simply break even. I can't say for sure on other states, though.

Oh jeez relax its friday..just kidding around.

Ok, thank you for offering thats very nice of you.

How easy is it to get the factory holdback given back to you?

What is really a fair % to allow a dealer to take? 3-5%?

What types of things are we likely to get with a 2005 new RX-8 at this time of year?

What are some things people should ask for and expect from a dealer with little or no additional cost?
ie. Floormats, detailing, first tank, waxing?

Specifically if I were to go in and say I am going to pay this X, but I am going to bring in some all-season tires, and I would like you to replace them on the car for me as part of the deal? Would that be reasonable? Wise?

Why don't cars do referal buying programs (ie. refer a car buyer and get a free diagnostic or car detailing)

here's a question: what's the optimal time to purchase? does the end of the month have any significance? (is that especially true in Dec?)

do you expect '05 rx-8 prices to keep declining and plummet once the '06's are out? Or do you think as the stock gets bought down the prices will bounce back up?

A: Yes, but that all depends on the dealership. You will get your money back in one way or another, and we usually wire money to an account or give them a check, if that is what you mean by cash, yes. If you mean cash bills, probably not. What you are talking about is positive equity, and happens rarely, but does happen with people who pay cash for vehicles, and trade down after a few months, or any short period of time.

It is if you come buy a car from me, but since you will never be my customer, it doesnt bother me, plus our store has been switched to a non-negotiating store, so i couldn't f*** anybody over if I wanted to.

Why don't cars do referal buying programs (ie. refer a car buyer and get a free diagnostic or car detailing)

1. All handled by the owner of the dealership.

2. How well did he or she take care of you? It's like a tip, most consultants make a base pay of 1500-2000 a month before commission, so its all up to you and how you feel.

3. I got mine on a wholesale dealer incentive program, which means the dealership bought 25 or so 8's that were just sitting in port, and because we bought them all, he got a bulk rate (see kids, buy in bulk!) which allowed him to turn around and lease them out for 189/mo.

4. oilchanges, details, anything that involves a service over an actual item is more easily negotiable. floor mats are now usually standard, and it is difficult to negotiate adding options that are not dealer installed, because you would have to find a completely different car. Rule of thumb, it doesnt hurt to ask.

5. YES! anything involving labor over parts is an easy way to get some free things, all season tires might not be the easiest to negotiate, but putting them on would be a snap

6. Mention it, we have that at our store, 50 bucks to the customer when you refer somebody to the dealership.

1. The optimal time to purchase a vehicle is at the end of the month, especially the end of fiscal quarters, becaue the sales managers want the cars to be sold this month!

2. I expect the prices of a new 05 8 to remain relatively the same until the 06 comes out. why? because they can.

Prices can always be talked about...please...sold cars at a non-neg. dealer, and you always talk price, or you lose the customer because some other dealership will low bal you to get a bonus from the manufacture or otherwise, some dealers need to sell a certain amount of cars so they can get special edition cars and such. Like when the viper first came out, or new vettes, the dealers that move cars get the first cut. Also dealers lease the cars from whatever kind of dealer they are so if a 2005 so an so is sitting there not moving but costing them cash!! you bet your *** they will deal to get it off the lot.

rebates are no big deal either they do not cost the dealership a dime , they still get paid by the car company. And there are no actions for your info...it can all be found on the web.

Roughly $10,000, all-in-all, to go up to a new M/T GT, give or take.

Yes you are tihnking of the dealership in which I bought my rx-8, however, I don't work at that dealership, so basically that is the consequence of my actions, not buying a car at my own dealership, which isn't a mazda dealer.

Right, prices are always talked about at a non-negotiating store because they are usually 3-5k under a negotiating dealership, but in my particular case, we wont budge in our prices because we have a cetain philosophy. As far as special edition cars, you are right on the money. Dodge vipers are given to dealer with high sales volume or with high customer satisfaction, same with the ford GT and crossfires and other "supercars".
