Car is not worth the msrp or invoice anymore. With every deal comes a catch. The catch is, in terms of value, you are getting what you pay for. For those who do not plan to trade their rx8 in for 10 years, CONGRATS, because you are really getting an incredible deal.
Yep, definitely some great deals on 04s. I just purchased a new 2004 6 speed, brilliant black, sport package, appearance package, and spare tire kit.

I received a great deal and hopefully it will be a great car for the next several years.

Yes. Take advantage of these deals guys. The key is this: If you keep rx8 and drive it for at least 6 years (100k miles), you will have gotten an UNBELIEVABLE VALUE. If within in next 5 years you trade it in, you got nothing out of these incredible prices. Just keep that in mind. You just married the RX8 for 6+years. Keep this car a long time, then you will have really taken advantage of buying a leftover 04. Sell it, and your money is gone. Car is already a year old, so it's worth much less then when we got ours. Enjoy!!

I think you are exagerating the impact of depreciation. I work in analytics and used to work for an auto finance company along side the people who developed residual models so I have some basis.

4-5 years from now (versus 6), one model year of depreciation on these cars won't necessarily be worth $5000. Once the car gets that old, the model year will have less impact and mileage will become more important.

Also, saying you are married to the RX8 for that long doesn't make sense as you can sell it anytime within the 6 years and you would still probably break even for buying the 2004 vs. buying a 2005 for $5K more. You just didn't get as good a deal then.

Also, you are neglecting the time value of money and the opportunity cost of the income derived from investing that $5K.

I be more concerned about the $7 beers in Norway. At least that was the price of a beer last time I was there .

If you go to place that people concider as "a bit hot" you pay 10$ for half a litre..
"7$-a-beer-places" is not for people like me

I'm merely pointing out that their cars are not any newer then ours. Mileage is only thing that gives their car a slight edge in value. I've had my car for a year, and it's worth almost as much. You cannot argue the fact that the price dealers are selling rx8 for, is all they are worth in the market. This is why they are selling them for cheap. Throw msrp and invoice out window, because they are not worth that. I think you misread my point. The sooner they trade car in, the more they lose out of that $5k savings. So if they trade it in in a year, they lost almost all of that $5k. Trade it in two years, they lose less, but still lose a big chunk of their savings, ECT ECT ECT. Keep it 6+, you literally saved $5k, that can invest in something else. I'm stating common sense here, but figured there may be some who don't understand why they are getting these great deals. There's a legitimate reason, and you need to keep your RX8 to truly save all that money. Good Day!!
