My 8 was due in by Sept week 2 which now has passed. There are a number of other forum members whose cars were due in at around the same time as mine. Now they are being told week 3 & week 4 (I will call Mazda on Tues -if I can get through- to check my car's status). My guess is that our cars are all on the same ship - NJ bound.

Just a quick question: can bad weather (say, storms in the Atlantic) be a factor in the delay?

I bet it does have something to do with it....those wicked storms cover a large area and they wait and see where it's headed I'll bet. Hmmm......will that delay my car in mid to end of October?? Hope not. Hope you get your car soon!

i was told by the dealership that my car was on land at the newark port and i would get it 2nd week of september but now they're saying 3rd or 4th week of september. they said the delay could be due to port installed accessories such as rear spoiler and appearance package which is low in supply but high in demand.

Yah ditto. A couple weeks ago I was listed as "week 3" but then last week they said the ship was in port (Sept 7, I think), but that the cars were kinda backed up at the port.

All I'm getting is the spare tire kit and cargo net, but they're probably also being done in some kind of order.

Mazdausa said my car definitely came into the port in NJ, so I'm in the same situation as you guys.

Original estimate (prebuild) was late August... frickin' delays.

I also spoke to a Mazda Dealer in Wayne ,NJ and he informed me last week that the cars are in port. He stated that any RX8's ordered without a spare tire kit should arrive within 10 business days. Any RX8's ordered with the spare tire kit should arrive 25 days later. I don't know why but this is what I was informed. I ordered my RX8 a month ago and can't what for it to arrive.

Doh! And I had the spare tire kit added onto my order while the ship was in transit.... grrrrrr

Just called Mazda and they confirmed that my car was in-port on Sept 6th and is now due Sept week 3.

We shall see....

But... b/c of work and the evil hurricane, I won't be able to pick it up until Saturday.

I am so excited for you......hope the hurricane does not blow your car to another state!;] Can you wait two more days???? Gosh to know it's there and have to wait two days.......I'd be going crazy but at lleast you know it is a reality now! Post pics please!!!:D

You have no idea how much agony I'm in right now... I want ! I want! I want it now!

The funny thing is that my sales rep left a VM for me a work before I got in. The day is just dragging.... I guess I could go up there after work, but the hurricane is scheduled to hit our area later tonight - rather be safe than sorry.

My sales rep said he'll make sure it get's garaged - so no worries there!

I'll post pics (in a new thread) on Sat or Sunday.

Least your baby will be in the garage. Stay safe and you will be driving in no time. Hmmm......7 weeks, right? My build date was supposedly Sept. 1, so.......mid October......got a couple nibbles on my car. It's onlime at Autotrader.com Protege5 $12,500.

Let's see - Mine was built on 7/24 and delivered 9/18 - that's 8 weeks. WOW! "8" hee hee - as in RX-8

8 weeks but it seemed like 8 years right Bob? Oh and I mentioned the pre-order book and the sales manager gave me his copy. Pretty nice!

OMG - you ain't kidding! Whew! Can't belive it's almost over for me (this Saturday)

Now it's going to be really hard on CD b/c people she knows from the forums are getting theirs. This forum and (most of) it's members really helps make the wait bearable.

Oh, when you post pics, start a new thread all to yourself (I'll do the same) - WE DESERVE IT!

I was told Fifth week of August and I still don't have mine.

They say the delay is due to the appearance package? I should get it next week and that will make it about a 4 week delay for me
