Buying a 2004 rx-8
Hello everybody, i am looking at a 2004 rx-8 gt with about 33k on it for about 13 grand. the car has a 1 year 100,000 mile warrenty on it and has completed a check through cooley. The car also has racing tires, racing cold air intake, leather seats, lip kit, lowered racing suspension and a few other things i cant remember. I am a college student in new york and work part time at a resturant for my main source of income. Since looking into rx-8 more i have found that alot of people are saying there a money pit, bad investment and the engine will most likely die at 80k. After talking with people and researching the car i cant make my mind on whether or not to buy it. If anyone has any suggestions i would love to hear them. Thank you

Good price, but I wouldn't buy a car with that many mods.
People are always talking about rotary engines blowing up "got to watch them apex seals..." etc., but the reliability of this motor is a lot better than any rotary that's come before it, and most people are uninformed.
And yes this motor has had its bugs too, but most have been worked out. As long as you're not looking at an '04 auto, and the previous owner was diligent about getting the ECU updated promptly, you're probably fine.
