Buying 2006 Rx-8 In Florida, Help Me !!!!
Ok planning to buy 2006 Winning Blue rx-8 within the coming weeks.
Want the GT Package and spolier and 6 cd changer.
MSRP - $32,365
How much can you expect I can get off the MSRP ?
My brother is a sales manager for ford and can get me the employee discount plan (d-plan)
I heard many people are getting 3000 - $5000 off msrp, what can I expect with the employee plan. Planning to put 5-6thousand down and finance threw mazda (i have good credit).
Any help with help a ton, thanks..... DUFF

If you are purchasing a 2006 don't expect them to knock a thing off the price without a special pricing plan. There is NOTHING available for discounts at this time since they hit the lots within the last two weeks. I don't know how much is off for the employee discount.
My new 2006 price:
MSRP: $36,364
Price: $33,181 car price.
Car was special order using Costco program to get car at $400 over invoice. Saved $3183 off MSRP.
Had I not used Costco I would not have been able to get this kind of deal at this time on an 06. There is no MAC cash or any other incentive offered for the 2006. In a few months there may be but not at this time. I wasn't even able to take a first time buyer discount.

New Model, just released = NO DISCOUNT!
But there is good news, D-Plan should be pretty good, not sure what the discount rate is for that, but I got mine for S-Plan in September and that was Dealer Invoice, which on mine was mid 29's (MSRP of 32,230). I would expect your price to be lower, by at least another couple hundred.

I just picked up my new winning blue 06 on wednesday. the msrp was around 33000 and invoice was around 30000. I picked it up for 1000 over invoice. I might have been able to do a little better (there initial offer was 35500, wtf?) i think you should not pay more than a grand over invoice that was my top dollar. Dont be afraid to walk out. The car will still be there tommorro and the dealership will know that your seriouse. If i hadnt waited months for my special order to come in i might have walked out and held out for a better price, but i wanted my new car dammit.
My advice is to find out the invoice price. decide what your comfy spending 500 - 1000 over. shoot them a lowball offer first but stick to your guns on your top price. They WANT to sell you that car. it just cost them money if its sitting on the lot. Do you homework, bring your numbers to the negotiations. Also bring a summary sheet that you dont mind handing over to the sales manager. This is what worked for me after they initially offered 2000 over MSRP. If they realise your seriouse and you know your stuff you will get much more respect.
Also watch out for fees. Be sure to get a fee breakdown before you sign anything and make sure they can explain every fee they are planning on charging.

If you would settle for a 2005 with 150 miles on it, come on up to Pensacola, Fl (right near Mobile, Al). Sandy Sansing has a fully loaded blue GT for $25,600. MSRP was $32k. We almost bought it, but they wouldn't give me enough on my trade in.
Like they said, I wouldn't expect the 06's to come down any drastically any time soon.
fourflush has good advice, preparedness is key. I got 3000 off MSRP when I bought my new '04 two years ago, it pays to be more knowledgeable than the sales rep. Another tip is to buy at the end of the month, or even better at the end of the quarter... each month it spends on the lot costs them money, and each quarter they have sales targets to meet.
good luck man

I went to the nearest Mazda dealer well the only one that had any 06s and talked to them about pre ordering an 6 speed auto.. guy did'nt try to rip me off. im sure the price can still come down a bit but his frist offer was 2 g under MSRP.. not sure how close that is to the invoice. it was white touring. i think with taxes etc he wanted 29,500. also includes some kind of security thing that they etched a number on the windows.. so anothe r300 dollars off.. right around 29000 out of the door.
i got my Z enthus for 28,000 OTD.. hm RX8 is a great car but i would never pay more than a Z for it. but its got 6 speed auto.. which is pretty nice and its for my girl.
she is kind of short and not a great driver.. I think the sports package is the best bang for the buck but i am a little worry that her view is not very good and without the 8 way adjustable seats she would have to sit really really close to the front. is this true?

My wife is 5'4" and I'm 6'3". The base, sport and touring all have a drivers seat with adjustable height. It's just a manual adjustment (meaning with a leaver). We can both get into a comfortable position for driving and the view is fine.
Regarding the package options...:
I'd recommend at least the sport package just for the traction control. I used to have a base model (w/o DSC/TCS) and have recently picked up a touring (w/ DSC/TCS). I tested out the new one (in an empty parking lot) and there is a huge difference. Where the back end would normally slide out and I would correct... the TSC kicked in, beeped, and I felt it control the slide before I could start turning in.
I do have some experience taking the 8 sideways... I can also attest to the fact that this is an extremely safe car. You'll survive hitting a wall at 80, I did.

Here is a internet quote from a Tampa dealer off a lead I submitted to the MUSA web site...
"Thank you for your request from MazdaUSA.com. I understand you are interested in a 2005 Mazda RX-8. At this time I do have the vehicle that you are looking for in-stock with the following options:
Sunlight Silver Exterior, Black Interior, 6-Speed Manual Transmission, Wheel Locks, Touring Package and Carpeted Floor Mats. It would have an MSRP from the factory of $30,395. Our Special Internet Selling Price for this vehicle is only $28,682
plus your tax, tag, title and fees. (ME6339)
This vehicle is also eligible for an additional $2,500 in Factory Rebate and Mazda Financial Discount.
If you are interested in this vehicle please feel free to call me during business hours to setup an appointment. I hope to hear from you soon."
I got better offers from the edmunds.com info request. I may be wrong but invoice less $2500 seems a little steep for a left over 05...
Best of luck with your purchase!
