Are you planning on leasing or buying?I only ask because Mazda is offering great incentives on leases right now.

What option packages do you want?I would do some research on Edmunds.com to find out the invoice price, and what they call the true market value. The TMV is the average price others across the country are paying for the particular car you want.

There are a lot of variables as well. How is your credit rating?I am guessing it is neither great or poor.I only say that because you have a loan now so you must have some credit,or a co-signer,and I am guessing it can't be really high just due to your age. Also it all depends on how much you owe on the Pontiac compared to what the dealer or an individual is willing to give you for that car.If the figure is less than what you owe(alot of times this is the case)then you will have to roll that difference into the price of the new car.It is what they call being upside downon a car loan.It really sucks.I would also check both edmunds.com,and kbb.com to determine your trade-in value campared to the private party value of the Pontiac,so that you can determine which is best to do.Trade in or sell privatly.

Another thing to consider is some dealers don't want to deal with young people such as yourself. It isn't right ,but it is a fact of life. They may just think you are dreaming. The same thing used to and still does happen with women as well.

Go into the negotiation prepared with numbers(from edmunds),and info.Never go into it looking for a particular amount a month. The dealer/salesman will take that number and work within his numbers to come up with what ever you tell him.Often times just fiddling with numbers to get you that payment, but not really saving you any money.

For your information I just dida 2 year lease(my first ever lease)on a 04 RX-8 base model 6 speed.window sticker said $27200.Invoice was $25xxx.I got it at invoice minus the $4250 in lease incentives for a buying price of $21xxx.The interest rate is a bit high even with my excellent credit rating, but mazda made up for it with the awesome incentives. My payments are a smidge over $300 a month including all taxes for 2 years.I am allowed to put 12000 miles a year on it.The lease may not be a good idea for you though if you drive alot(what teenager doesn't is suppose),but it is the cheapest way into a rx-8 right now.Good luck.If you have anymore questions PM me,and by all means do your homework on edmunds or other sites. The internet is invaluable as far as info on buying tips.

I forgot to mention Mazdas lease incentive are $2500 right now on top a dealer incentive of $750,plus an extra $1000 for a two year lease.Add them all up you get the $4250 figure. If you go longer term on a lease I believe the payment goes down(like buying it long term),but never go over the term of the warranty with your lease term.I went with the 2 year lease for a couple of reasons 1)It was short term enough that I wasn't locked in too long 2)I got the extra $1000 off the price.Hope this helps.
