Buying a RX-8

Year 2005, GT
Mileage 50,000
Asking Price $12,900
Talked then down to $11,900

Am I paying a good price? I am trying to get lower. Perhaps 11,000?

A Series 2 for under $17,000? Where? In the Pacific NW, they are well over $20,000.

Here, see if this works:

http://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchr...MENT&pgId=2102

That's my search results on cars.com.

Shows me 40+ vehicles at $20k or less, that are '09 and newer.

And you're right, none of them are in the PNW.
Closest looks like Arizona.

BC.

Sounds just about right. If you still can lower it less than $11,000, then its a great deal. It's like buying a home and offering the lowest possible you can get. Good luck getting it lower than $11,000.

That's a pretty decent price.
Dealer or private seller? Auto or Manual?
Get a compression test done before you do anything.. Please. I paid 11,500 for my 05 GT w/ 6 speed manual with 36k miles.

Thanks I will get that done. Is a compression test expensive? Yeah I put a deposit down from a private seller cause I couldn't find the car anywhere. But is a nice one. White which was kinda hard to find in my area. Umm its a auto. Only other thing I am worried about is winter is around the corner. I really would not like to keep it out and drive it but I have no choice really. Any other tips are welcome.

Compression test can run anywhere between $100-250 depending on the dealership. Talk the guy into going 50/50 with you on it, and if it passes then you can pay the rest. If not make him do the hassle of getting a new engine. (If its still under warranty. 8yr/100,000 miles)
Do you have a link to see the car?

A lot of the autos had more engine failure do to build up of carbon.
This should be everything you need to know:
