Dealer information and a Hello
First off I want to say hello. I have been trolling the boards for a month or so since we bought a yellow Rx8. I love the car even though it has been in the shop three times since we bought it. Twice for a check engine light and once because the nav system didn't work.
Secondly I wanted to give warning to those in the midwest area about Sunflower Mazda. Our buying experience started on-line. I got quotes from several area dealers and contacted a couple of them to come down and see/drive the car. We were looking for a yellow one and there were only a couple dealers that had them in stock so we started with them.
The first dealership we went in was Sunflower Mazda, what a mistake. When we spoke on the phone they had three yellow ones on the lot but the next day when we arrived the only one they had left was a yellow with 2400 miles on it. They were pushing to sell it as a lease since it was "used by the owner" as they told us. Asking price was in the 33k range even though it was beaten up a bit. As we started looking at the car we noticed the passenger side seat looked funny and when you looked closer there were two spots up by the rotary emblem on the seats that looked spray painted. The texture didn't match the rest of the seat and there was black overspray spots on the silver emblem. When questioned about it the dealer said they had done nothing to the seats......yea right. Needless to say we did not buy the car from them. Be warned if you deal with them they are strickly a quantity dealer with little customer service.
After leaving there we went to the other dealer that had a yellow one for sale, Laird Noller Mazda. The gentleman we dealt with at Laid was great. Even to the point that all three times we had to take it back they came and got it (15 miles away) and delivered it back to us when fixed.
