Dealers in North Texas...
Hey all. This is my first time here. I am impatiently waiting to purchase an RX8. I was wondering if anyone knew of any dealers in the north Texas area (Dallas, Ft. worth, Arlington, Wichita Falls, etc...) who offer good deals/service. I have contacted a few to no avail. Thanx in advance, Texas8

Freeman mazda seems to always have a good amount on the lot. I still have a little time before I actually purchase. So, I'll keep looking and play the waiting game. Texas 8

Give Mike Moran at Mazda South a call (800-97-SOUTH or 512-462- 3131). He is NOT a salesman, he is the inventory manager, and he is also on this forum from time to time (budaman), and will give you the best support you can imagine!
The after sale support is also the best I have ever encountered (Make sure to meet "DJ" while you're there).
You won't regret it. I live in Houston, and drove there on the recommendation of friends, after all of the dealers in Houston turned out to be "typical" dealers.

I was at Town North yesterday - currently they are not budging off of MSRP; stated reason - they have more 8s than virtually anyone because they can move them (about 40). They seemed incredulous that others would be selling 8s for lower. They are honoring the S-plan for those who qualify (like me).
I didn't buy yesterday, although I will, still looking for the best financing - made some calls Hiley has a bunch in stock, wouldn't quote financing over the phone, Freeman and Prestige seemed eager to make a deal as quickly as possible.
I've used their service department in the past for my 7; high prices but good work.

Here is a hearty second for "topryor's" recommendation to make the journey to Austin (first by telephone) for the best treatment you will ever get from a Mazda dealer. There is a major player here in the imported car dealership game named Roger Beasley. He has dealerships across 4 or 5 makes of cars from BMW to Mazda and has 4 seperate Mazda dealerships here in Austin...Round Rock, Austin North, Austin South, Bastrop. Each of the 4 seems to be autonomous as to management and style with the Round Rock and Austin North locations seeming much like they were transplanted here from California as they are snooty and egalitarian and don't seem to be willing to deal or care whether they sell yo a car or not. I have heard pretty good reports re: the Austin South location but have now bought 3 Mazdas from Mazda Bastrop with nothing but good things to report. The latest purchase is the RX-8 that I expect to take delivery of tomorrow that was ordered 3 months ago. It would be well worth your time to call or even visit Mazda Bastrop and if you do you want to talk to Ron Kennedy...he is the internet sales guy there and is a no-bullshit guy that will make you a reasonable deal. I negotiated $750 over invoice on a special order and that was months ago.

I live in Austin as well and have been shopping for an RX-8 for a good 6 weeks now. I did most of my research on Edmunds.com and requested quotes from the Roger Beasely Mazda Bastrop and Mazda South.
The Bastrop internet salesman, Ron Kennedy, was very professional and eager to earn my business. He quoted me a 2K off on a GT+Nav+Appearance model. Mazda South offered $700 on the same
Since Bastrop is kinda out of the way, I went to Mazda South and Roger Beasley Mazda on Burnet first.
Of the two I would recommend Mazda South as they seem helpful enough and have a tremendous inventory. However, I got the feeling that they weren't going to be too flexible on the MSRP. Just judging from the reaction when I mention that I'm for them to looking to match the Bastrop discount.
The first saleman I had at the Burnet dealership looked at me with disdain when I inquired about any discount.
But back to MazdaSouth, we had to settle the issue of my trade in, a 2000 Eclipse GT w/92K miles. The Blue Book Value was around $6.5K. They offered me 4K so no deal. Afterwards I went down the street to the Nissan dealership as I was also interested in a 350z Track Edition. Same story there, only this time they offered 3K for my trade in.
I then emailed Ron Kennedy in Bastrop and he told me that the market for my aging eclipse isn't what it use to be and that 4K was around what I should expect.
Alas, I was resigned to the fact that I'd have to sell it on my own.
To make a short story even longer, I was visiting family in Arlington and wanted to show my mom the RX-8 so we headed to Hiley Mazda.
They didn't have much of a selection. Mostly base models and automatics. The sales man approached me and asked if he could earn my business but I was skeptical. They didn't have the car I wanted and I was sure they were going to screw me on the trade.
After they located the car I wanted in Dallas, we started negoiations. After only few rounds, I'm happy to say I got 6K for my trade in and 2K off MSRP on a Ti-Gray with the following options: GT, Appearance, Accent, Spare tire, wind deflector, cargo net.
As for the financing, I was expecting them to try to push the gap insurance, enviromental charge, etching, etc. and to stick me with a high interest rate. But to my surprise I walked out of there with just an extended 5yr/100K warranty for $1500 and 4.99%.
Prolly more info than you need.

Again - proof positive that if one dealer or another won't offer you what you want, there's another one waiting in line perfectly willing to do business with you. Congratulations!

anyone have any experience with the El Dorado dealerships in McKinney, Texas?? Also, is it better to make a deal over the phone instead of in person? If so, who would I talk to, a sales manager or just a regular salesperson? Thanks.

Do a search, you'll find El dorado is BAD mojo. Regarding dealers not going below MSRP, sure if you ask they will say no, thats why you almost always have to beat a good price out of a dealer. If that's not your bag, use the internet manager.
