Diagnostic Fee?
took my car in this morning to have the defroster button replaced because it was cracked. i mentioned my brakes squealed and the whole front end vibrates when braking above 50MPH. the guy says we'll have to charge you a $59.99 diagnostic fee to see if your rotors are warped or not. WTF?

that's crap.
That actually happened to me when I brought my car in for a TSB. The woman who does the write-up said that the TSB was covered but that there was a diagnostic fee of $90. I said to her that the only reason I brought the car in was because had a service bulletin of a faulty part of the car, and she said it was standard. I said whatever, let me talk to the manager.
Once I talked to him, he said that I shouldn't be paying for something like that, and it was probably just a computer error that shows the time spent but wasn't zeroed out before processing.
Whatever the case is, something like that should not be chargeable.
