The Fleet Manager
So I am going to FINALLY be purchasing my 8 here in the next two weeks, and have heard that it is much easier to work out deals with the "Fleet Managers" at dealerships via email correspondance. What have your experiences been with the fleet managers, will I need to act uninterested in the car to get them to drop the price or will it be mostly a no haggle "firm low price" situation?
The exact 8 I want has been sitting in their lot for at least a month.... so ANY and ALL prompt help is appreciated! I'm ready to pick it up.
Thanks,
Max

I dealt with a fleet manager from Indy in Denver back in '97. No real haggle over price. He told me what I could get it for and that was pretty much it. Of course I had no trade. One of the smoothest automtive transactions I've ever done.

read through the "Car Buyers School".
One of their recommendations is dealing with the fleet manager.

I only deal with the fleet/ internet manager any more. You can often find their name on the dealer's website. Then, you can email them, or go to the dealer and ask for them by name.

Bump bump. Anyway...
Can you really negotiate with the Fleet Manager? Seems like they all have their set price, and the most they will do is match another dealer.
Maybe there's a better technique to getting them to compete against each other?

So far, they've all been very pompus. I'm hoping that after I give them radio silence for a bit they'll come around.
We'll see. They're all coming close to the price I know is fair... but not close enough.
Maybe I'll have to wait until December when they're really hurting.

Thanks.
One dealer will *only* work through carsdirect... which seems a little odd, but oh well. I'll get my 8 eventually.
