Good Experience - Ricart Mazda Columbus OH

Picked up my new RX-8 yesterday. I was debating whether to wait for a 2005 or not - decided to get the 2004 if I could get what I wanted.

I definitely wanted the Titanium Gray, 6 speed and red / black interior. Those were musts.

Found two in the NE that generally fit my wants - one in Alexandria at Brown's Mazda and the one at Ricart.

Started with Brown's and had a poor experience. After cutting an invoice deal, they started changing their tune, adding unexpected fees and telling me they couldn't honor the price unless I got their the next day -BS.

Ricart was a pleasure to deal with once I got to Bob Tackett, a more experienced rep. I paid $30,193 "out the door" (no sales tax as I will pay in NY on registration) on 24 month 0% APR for my car. Invoice was $29,858 as the car came from the factory. They included RX-8 custom floor mats and a RX-8 car cover no charge, so I figure I paid about $200 over invoice including all fees.

I could have done a bit better locally if I were flexible on color and interior, but I wanted what I wanted and I got almost exactly what I wanted!

Now have to decide if I want to add the rear spoiler...

I got invoice at Byers Mazda in Columbus with little to no haggling. Still sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Congrats!

Interesting - Ricart advertises any 8 at invoice - Byers any 8 at $99 over invoice.

I'm gonna pull the trigger soon, but not til they have their "clear the lot" sales to make room for the 05's.

I tried Byers who said they would sell at invoice, but they said they could not find one that met my specs.

Interesting on the Ricart ads - I saw some ads for them at $500 over invoice but not at invoice.

I felt like I could have probably pushed a little harder - but in the end if I could get the one I wanted it was worth paying $100 extra! Most dealers I know will get ya for at least $125 for paperwork and title / registration fees...

Thanks.

Yeah - that's not a bad deal. Got my wife's Miata there few months ago. Just gotta stick to your guns and then watch out for the finance guys! Read that paperwork, or you will end up paying for stuff that you had no intention of buying! Window etching, rustproofing, extended warranties, fudged interest rates (if you finance) are all things to watch out for here.

I almost went with Ricart but ended up at Mazda Direct since they had the closest thing to what I wanted. Buyers Mazda tried to give me the MSRP and $4k below what my car was really worth on a trade in. I didn't want to argue and haggle that much so I went elsewhere. I called Ricart on the phone and they guy I talked to there (Shea) was very helpful. I probably would have gone with them but my dad warned against it as they've had a number of lawsuits for being dishonest.
