Good general pricing strategy on 05's

After looking at many of the threads here it seems like a general theme comes up on pricing 05's at this stage of the product year.

Start out at about 4K under invoice

Dont settle for anything over 2K under invoice?

Would you all concur? I mean some people have gotten 4K under and power to them, and some pay invoice or more...

but with 06's coming out last week in february (at least thats what a dealer told me and if anything he would say later than reality)

it seems that 05's should be cleared off at a heavy discount. The only difference seems to be how hard you have to fight to get the price there.

go to edmunds.com for realistic current pricing and current rebates.

check out carsdirect.com for pricing (though i have no direct experience with them). gave me a little over $28k with the incentives on a car with retail of $33k and invoice over $30k

i think the realistic numbers are invoice less current rebates / incentives...

I think the GT package is worth the difference and 3300 miles ain't much

My neighbour just got a new 2005 GT 6-spd for $8500 off msrp. He said they probably would have gone even lower if he had pushed harder.

I'd be nervous as to why a car was returned with that few miles..but that just me.

I think especially with this car you can get a lot of folks who either:

1) fall in love with the car but find it isn't practical for them

2) have a change in circumstances (family, etc)

3) have as a second car and find they don't use it as much as they thought they would or have to part with it due to expenses

Given the Mazda warranty I wouldn't worry much about it...but that's just me!

I think they would have an easier time cutting costs on cars with options as they can still show a profit on the base cost and just lose it on the options pricing...but I am not sure.

I think I am going out with the following offers (with some room to go up)

Touring 31430 MSRP Offer 24500
GT 32200 MSRP Offer 25000
GT 31800 MSRP Offer 24500
GT 33150 MSRP Offer 25500
GT 32650 MSRP Offer 25500
GT 33150 MSRP Offer 25500
GT 35100 MSRP Offer 26500

We will see...I hope I get something like the deals some of your are getting.

woot a dealer came back with 25450 for a Titanium Gray GT with spoiler, mats, sunroof deflector, all-weather Mats, shock sensor upgrade.

It would be awesome to get nav or the 6 disk as well (even for a bit more) but thats pretty good right? I might wait to see what the other 8 dealers come back with.

Well then there's guys like me that bought an AT and will be trading for an 05 MT.
I have only 7K on the clock, I suspect there are people with low miles who traded
for the same reason.
Mazda transfers the warranty... don't they?

Most everyone is coming in at about 1000-1500 more for same or lower invoice cars. Which actually makes me a bit nervous...we will see I am not signing until I know there are no shenanigans going on (remind me to check and make sure there is an engine inside the chassis ) They quoted me as the drive off price so its about 3000K below market price. But they also have a lot more on their lot than the other dealers around here so that may explain it (and its a big dealership so they have pockets to take a bigger profit dip). Oh and its near the end of the month so they may be lookign to move cars by month end.
