Um, if you have it in writing, typo or not, that is considered legally binding and they have to honor it. Found this out helping my parents deal with crap from Premier Mazda. It may not be worth the hassel but they gave you a price on the vehicle you want and now are changing their mind. They could do that if it wasn't in writing. They may try and pull some crap and tell you it's been sold or someone put a deposit on it already, though. They just threw a great deal at you to get you in there to then lie about it. I don't know about how they work since I have never dealt with them.
Here is a thought. Call up Ron Tonkin (or stop in would probably be better) and tell them what kind of car you are looking for (I'm sure they probably don't have what you are looking for already). Tell them you have heard good things about them, blah, blah, blah, and you would like dealing with them. See if they can arrange a dealer trade for you. Last time I was getting serviced there I met a lady in the waiting room that they did this for. She wanted a particular Mazda 3 and they found one up in Tacoma. Ron Tonkin arranged a trade for her and also gave her a price several thousand dollars less than Royal-Moore would have done on a car they already had on their lot and didn't have to trade for.
Another thought would be, also, to take in your price quote (I'm sure it's in writing if they told you it was a typo) and see if you can get a similar deal on a similar vehicle, et cetera.
I don't know who the head sales managers would be at Ron Tonkin anymore, though. I went through Kevin Mathes to get my car but they transferred him over to Nissan. The guy that seems to be the head one now is named Bashar and he seems very informed about stuff. Might want to give them a try.
I'm not sure what to tell you about the crap Murray pulled. I don't see how it's a type. The 3 and 7 aren't near each other where they could have accidentally put the wrong key in, especially if it was repeated as such. It just means they are ******** backpedaling and hope you REALLY want that car and figure you will pay the extra anyway.
EDIT: The $27K is still a good price, though.

that price is flat wrong. If I were you, kinda like football, I jump on it before they have a chance to toss the red flag and ask for review..........)
And a little info about law. All states are different so I really can't speak intelligently. But generally speaking............
I goes back to "what would a common man's interpretation" mean. For instance, if they priced out the car but forgot to include, say, accent package they would be on the hook for it. But if it is a gross error in pricing that a "common man" would understand to be way off, they could try to come back at you..........
But still, with a signed sales document, I say buy the thing quick and force them to deal with it...............

about the only part of that post that you should actually read is the last line, due to the fact that BG is full of crap.
Oh and amazing that BG has had ANYONE exact same experiance as yet another person on this board! Makes you kinda wonder if she actually ever leaves the house, or just takes on what other people say to make herself the "life of the party"

How soon do you need a car? If you can wait. Then wait. The RX-8's aren't selling so hot, and with recent news stories... even better deals should be available in the next 3-4 month range... like Dec or Jan. If $27k is fine for you... well go with it. But you might want to at least check at another dealer to see what kind of a deal they might offer you.

I am assuming that it is new. That is not a bad price. A word of advice though, go onto Edmunds.com and find out the rebates and what the dealer holdback is. It may not be that great a deal. They have to make some kind of money, so just leave them a little of the hold back.
Also, they will try to make up the money on the financing. If they get you, say, a 5.9%apr from their favorite bank, they will tell you that they got you 7.9% and the bank pays the dealer the 2% extra. So, after they settle on the bank, ask what the buy rate is and negotiate it like you did the car. Most banks pay around a $200 minimum to the dealer even if the dealer gives you the rate that the bank came back with.
Another way that dealers make up money is on extended warranty and gap. Gap is VERY good idea unless you put down so much money that you will NEVER be in a negitive equity situation. However, before you buy it from them check with your insurace company and find out how much it cost from them. Some insurance companies do not offer it and some are more expensive. If you do buy it from the dealer, again, you can negotiate it a little because they do have markup on it.
Extended warranty is marked up a little also, so you can negotiate a little with that. If you plan on heavily modifying you car, it is not worth it since you are going to void it anyway. Also if you are the kind of person who gets a new car every 4 or 5 years (or sooner) it is not worth it. Past that, only you can decide if some peace of mind is worth $1,000 or more.
Anyway, the extra interest on the buy rate, gap, warranty, life insurance,...any of the crap that finance sells you is called the "back end". So, don't let them give it to you in the back end.
PS, I am a car salesman. Since you are my brothers and sisters, I don't mind giving a little help.

PS- They will come to you with a sheet and say, "this is how much we pay for the car. Can we meet in the middle?" Or, they will say, "we are already losing $XXX, can you come up a little?"
The dealer hold back is money that does not show up on the list price. It is money the dealership will get back from the manufacturer to sell the car. Most cases it is $400 or 500. Some cases it is 2 or 3 thousand. It depends on the manufacturer, the price of the car, how much the manufacturer makes on the car, how bad they want them to sell,...

i say you will be able to get that car for the 27k price pretty much anywhere no more than 2 months from now. If it were me i would go back to the dealership and tell them If they give it to me for the quoted 23xxx price I will sign the papers today and if not I will walk out the door and never come back and see what they say. Worse case scenario you go to another dealership and get the same car for the same price next week.
