help - i need advice and quick on this deal.
ok, so some of you might remember i was here a week or 2 ago talking about getting a rx8, and i finally went to check it out today, with the possibility of buying. basically, i only want stick, and either titanium grey, or in black, i went to a dealership and all they had new in those 2 colors were automatics, but they had 1 demo
black
6 speed
grand touring package, black w/brown 2tone leather
4,500 miles
they told me $30,000 out the door, thats including tax and a new tag, the final cost came out to like $27,750, but with tax and such it came out to $30,600, we told them that our limit is $30,000, and we have until tomorrow night to take it,
the car is basically brand new, the owner drove it, it will have a full warranty from the day it is bought. basically, is this a good price, for those of you who have bought a 6spd with the grand touring package, taking tax and such into consideration, thanks again for the help and input.

Edmunds says:
6MT invoice = $24,659
GT = $3,441
If you get it at $27,700, you may as well buy a new one for $300 more.
Bad deal. I wouldn't even consider it unless they drop the price down to $25,000 range, especially since the 2004 line is almost done with.
Also, check the build date. If the car was made before December 2003, you may have additional problems.

I think you can do better! Call the next dealer close to you ask him how much for same mod & equip. (Black is hardest to sell in hot areas) I would want to brake it in myself, eng, trans, brakes, everything. You know that "DEMO" has been red lined by everybody that drove it. You will do better! Look around.....

well youre saying 27,700 is invoice, but is anyone selling for invoice? they are selling msrp at like $26,500, and the package goes for $4,000, add tax and youre atl ike $33,000 or so, this is $30,000 out the door, and it was driven by the owner of the dealership for a month and a half, it wasnt a test driver.

MSRP is $32,680. Then you have to add in $500 for dest.
I bought it at dealer invoice. Almost everyone here has been getting them at invoice these days. Only the first few months did people pay full MSRP.
Tell the dealer you want a better deal or you'll go to a dealership who will offer you invoice.
Just so you know, I contacted the online sales person at my local dealership, her FIRST offer on the car was invoice. I didn't even haggle or say anything.
My car had 7 miles on the obo when I picked it up.

Keep looking, don't feel pressured to get into this deal. And I really doubt this car being the owners, that's another name they have at the dealership for a demo.

Try Gunther in Ft. Lauderdale & Fairbanks in Orlando...either one should be able to give you a great deal without even trying, especially Fairbanks..........call them before driving to Orlando.

If it's a must have, offer him 23,000 and watch them turn you away. Expect it. It's quite likely they'll let you sit for a week... and then they'll call you - asking if you're still interested. They'll see if you'll bite again at 30,000. But, when you hold firm... they will say let me call you back. It's a test. Often, they'll just call back shortly and take your deal. Why not? It's a used car and they need to dump it before the new model year.

Walk away. There are tons of RX-8s sitting on lots around the country. Better to find one new at invoice somwhere else and pay $500 to have it shipped to your location.
4,500 miles is a ton, and they were probably hard miles. "Sure, drive the $#!+ out of it, Hal. We'll find some sucker to buy it for close to invoice once you're through. Ha ha ha..."

There you go. Keep looking you have control now. You have to understand they will try anything they think they can get away with to put more money in their pockets! Unless you are buying a real hard to get car you can get it for $300 to $1000 over there cost....

This is true. It's their job to get as much money out of you as possible. Some people go into a dealer and say "Is this as low as you can go" and leave it at that. You have to have them play YOUR game not theirs and thats when you'll get a good deal.
good luck.
