HELPP!! whats your opinion
Well i went to the dealership hoping to come out with a good deal today...i've been shopping around for a while now...and i went to this dealership today...the guy was genuinely nice...straight forward...and he found the car exactly the way i want it in south Maryland...i'm in central Jersey...and he said that hes gonna drive down one of his RX-8s down there and trade it off with my potential RX-8...but...he is gonna have to drive it back!! and i'm not sure if i trust him...its 200 miles...and he seemed really nice and wouldn't mess around with the car...and i would pay for bringing it here but a flatbed would cost nearly 1000 dollars for that distance...the car has no miles on it...2005...but when he gets back it'll have 200...should i trust the guy if he is personally going down there?? please give me your input!! thanks in advance...

Mine had 12 on when I bought it, problem was that it was at another dealer 258 miles from home. I trusted my salesman who was picking the car up himself. They ended up giving me a loaner 8 to drive home for the weekend, and they delivered my new one to me a couple days later, and they brought my truck back that I drove up there, also.
If you feel good about your sales person, you shouldn't need to worry.
Enjoy your new 8

I used to sell Mazdas and Porsches all the time and I did dealer trades a lot. Have to be honest with you - I used to hot rod the **** out of those cars - 2 - 4 hours on the road in a kickass car? You bet! Have some fun!
Here's what I'd do ... offer to go along with the dealer guy on the ride so you can drive your new car home. You'll get several hours of "stick time" in your new wheels to flush out any issues, AND you'll be able to verify that the car was gently treated on the ride.
OR, insist they flatbed the car. Mine was a dealer trade from Chicago to South Carolina - flatbed all the way ...

You know another consideration besides trust or no trust is ensuring the "break-in" guidance is followed: For the first 600 miles ensure the RPMs are varied. Is he gonna be as concientious about that as you might be? 200 miles is a substantial fraction of that 600.

What's your hurry?
We all love our RX8's but they are not custom-built one-offs. Tell your dealer to order one from the port the way you want it or wait until one comes in the way you want it. You're already paying something like $520 in transportation charges, why would you pay even 5 cents more to take delivery.
Never trust anyone else, especially for a long drive during break-in.
