so i was at the dealership saturday, and they raised the rebate here in cali for the month from 3k to 3,500k. They dont think it will transfer into next month, and they are still offering 3k off on the 08's also. My out the door price with registration and lisencing is 29k with the rebate included, but the sales rep didnt include the 3k off the OTD price so i sent back an offer today saying i'll take it for 26,500 OTD on an 08 40th Anniversary MT with less then 500 miles on it, and they'll deliver it. If you use mazda's financing you dont get the rebate tho just FYI

i wouldnt pay anything near that for an 08... if you got that kinda money to spend get an r3... would be pretty close to the same. Simple autotrader search comes with many 08's for 22-26k... little more miles but difference between 500 and 5000 isnt that much for an 08. i would even hesitate on 500 because that means its not even broken in and has only been driven 500 miles for the year... probably not driven by a rotary enthusiast, but a non-rotarhead dealer just moving it from lot to lot.

I bought my '05 GT 6-speed in early March for $15,900. The car had 24k miles on it.
Good prices in FL.

Hi I have been in the market for a new car and the RX 8 is one on the cars i am very interested in. I just tring to see if this sounds like a good deal because i am not sure what the selling demand on the RX 8 are and the price they are going for at the dealer. I found a Brand New 2007 black RX8 Grand Touring with Navi, Rotary Accent Package, the red and black leather and Spoiler for 24945.00 I was talking to the dealer and he said he would do 24945 OTD after all fee taxes and tags. Is this a good deal or could I get a 2008 for that? 33824.00 is the MSRP
Thanks
Bryan

I paid $24,995 a couple of months ago for 2008 GT in CA, with a sticker price that was about the same as your scenario. Even if it's brand new, it's still a 2007 model and will vastly depreciate as soon as you drive it off the lot. I'm sure you'll enjoy the car, though.

Anyone know the dealer cost of the nav option? 2k seems like way too much to pay. Anyone know if rebates might start early given Mazda sales last month were down 20%?

Looking to Buy a new '08 40th Ann rx-8 Manual, in NJ ... With Dest and no options, stickers for $32,005. What price point do you think is good? I'm thinking if I can get $4000 off ($28,005) it would be worth great. If I add in tax and fees, still out the door at a tick more then $30K. If I decide to take the rebate the price would be $24,505 + tax & fees.

Too agressive? Not agressive enough? What do you think? My thinking is that these are '08's. '09 model is out. ... Due to Gas miliage and small market, these things are not moving.

All thougths appreciated.

Just Purchased an '08 - New Jersey, here are pricing details

Just Purchased an '08 - New Jersey. Picking it up later this week if all goes well, Here are pricing details.

New '08, MT. 40th Annv, with Spoiler and Sires radio.
List with dest $32,795
Dealer Disc $ 3,995
Mfg rebate $ 3,500
-------------------------------------------------
Total Disc $ 7,495
Net Selling Price $25,300

Approx NJ tax 7% $1,771 (assume it applies against net selling after disc)
Plates, Title, Reggy $500 (Estimate)
--------------------------------------------------
Out door price $27, 571

Down payment $ 5,000
-------------------------------------------------
Total Financed $22,571

5.19% 60 Mos $418 per mos

I'm sure if I waited till end of month, I may have gotten $500 more off, but there is a risk in not many MT cars being out there. Dealer had 9 of these, 8 were AT. Dealers were not interested in selling at deep discount anything they had to find.

Car has Sires radio, I have no interest in at all. I would like to add something that mimics accessory package and rotary accent package, If anyone has a source for this kind of stuff, I'd appreciate it. I'd also like to purchase a spare tire kit.

You got a really good deal. Revel in it. And enjoy the hell out of that car. Pay a little extra every month and save a lot in the long run on interest. And for the love of (insert preferred deity here), post some pics!

cost break down

Wayne Madza - Manny Navarro was rep

First I got to say, all these dealers try to make as much as possible. Where they give up margin, they make it up elsewhere. Im my case Doc fee, window etching and how they applied the tax. My numbers changed slightly, but I still think it was a good deal.

List with dest $33,295 w/ bogas $500 addition for window etching (Which I had them back out)

Car Selling Price $ 28601

Taxable amount $26801

NJ Tax $2016 (I personally beleive this shouldof been applied after the rebte was deducted, a NYS dealer I was talking to did it that way

NJ tire fee $ 7.50

Online Proce fee $7.70

Reggy/TTL Plates $ 254

Doc Fee $299 (I am sure most of this is profit, as they do this in bulk)

Rebate $3500

Bottom line Paid a total of $27884 out door after all taxes and fees. A couple hunderd more then I expected (due to tax calc differance).

Did you talk to them?

I was looking at those. They are advertised as new, but have over 100 miles each. I am not particularly cheap, but I think $25.8K is a tad much. It bugs me a bit that the car has been seating on the lot for over 2 years. Nothing but good things happen when a car sits unused outside. It probably still has gas on the tank that was purchased at about $2/gal :P

I have seen posts on this board of some member getting 11K off a 2+ year leftover. I know thats a crazy extreme, but $6.5K off (msrp was 32K) is nothing huge. Likely the current 3.5K incentive, and a 3K mazda incentive that is not advertised. Also, the '09s are out.

I any case, I would jump at one at ~$23.5K, not at almost $26. Hence I wait

I talked to them but they wouldn't take $22k but they may in a few weeks. Today I got a 2008 40th Anniv with every option and 2k miles (just traded in after 4 months) for $22.4 at Mazda Gallery. The leftovers will come down even more as will the used cars. I hear Mazda is slow in getting the 2009s out because of overstock of the old cars.

I've been shopping around for an RX-8 for the past few weeks. I originally wanted an '09 GT Diamond Gray AT with navi, but the dealer said that car doesn't exist yet I think the RX-8's in general haven't been selling well and thus, the dealerships haven't got many in stock yet. Sticker price on the GT is ~34k.

I visited a dealership yesterday that had some 40th ann. RX-8's on the lot, going for ~34k before $3,500 rebate or 0% for 36mo or 1.9% for 37-60mo. So it will come out to ~31.5k before price bargaining. They told me I could walk away with it for a little under 30k. Sound like a decent deal?

If "a little" means $2K, its an OK deal. Your worse case scenario should be invoice (~31,286) - 3500. Somewhere about $28.5K. I would walk away if they want a penny over that amount. You can likely do better than that.

I could have gotten it for $27,900, but I took the 0% financing instead of the rebate for building up credit/business expenses. Thanks for the advice

Check AutoTrader.com. There are a few 40th Anniv out there I think as low as ~$26k though check the options. Some didn't have the rear spoiler, and side ground effects (if your into those things). Lowball the dealers... they can only say "no"
