How much off for a 05 GT?

Hi all,

Been lurking around here from time to time. Drove an 8 about a year ago and really liked it. Recently I test drove a Mustang GT and the new MX-5. The mustang was alright, but just not practical in west Los Angeles. You just want to floor it all the time and theres just too much traffic so it becomes quite frustrating. The new MX-5 was brilliant though, but I've had my 01 Miata for about 5 years now and I need something more practical and I just don't see a way to get the MX-5 on the track with a 4 point roll bar, so now I'm back to the 8. Didn't think I could any get any deals on a GT, but apparently there are no 06's yet so there are some killer deals on 05's to be had. I did an inverntory search and found a few GT's which msrp at about $31685. I would definitely finance through MAC for the 1 grand discount. How much should I expect off in So Cal? Is 7 grand off msrp realistic?

Thanks

I've seen up to 5,000 off here in Texas. If you can get anything more than that, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

Good Luck with your search.

How low can you go?

According to Intellichoice.com and Edmunds.com, the MSRP for an '05 GT is $31,125, with an invoice price of $28,500.

In my area (Boston metro area), Edmunds notes an additional $560 destination charge, for a total of MSRP 31,685 and invoice $29,060.

If you start at the invoice price and subtract off the $1500 and $1000 incentives, you can get the price down to $26,560. If you got your GT for $23,500, how did the dealer make any profit at all? Are there additional factory-to-dealer incentives and holdbacks that I haven't learned about yet? What is the dealer's actual cost?

Thanks for the info,

Michael

wow 23.5k for a 05 GT. All I could do was 28.4k out the door (tax, license included).

Well I got an email back from the dealer that he could do $26,601. Certainly this is not a bad price, but how good is it? It is the color I want and has the exact options that I want. Should I try to make it up on the trade in? Oh yeah he is offering free oil changes, but the dealership is kind of a haul from me so it's not that valuable to me. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

How much should I expect to have off in Minnesota? You know, since it is cold and snowy this can't be the most popular car to own.

If you live in the area, I recomend Walser Mazda in Burnsville. I purchased my 8 there a few months back and got about $7grand off. Plus you get free oil changes for the life of the vehicle, cant beat that.

I got my '04 GT w/Navi at this exact time last year new for $25,700. The sticker was over $33K. OTD, the car came out to $28,300.

Your best bet is to do an inventory search to find the exact cars you'd be interested in, then call the dealerships and ask for the internet or fleet sales manager. Tell them you're shopping on line and you already have a guy who's offerred you 7K off sticker at another dealership and you're calling to see if they can beat it. If you can be flexible about color, I'm certain you can get a left over '05 right now for at least 7K below sticker.

Good luck dude.

I just got an 05 GT and 'only' got $4800 off MSRP. However, I had the dealer look all over to find a White with the Black/Red interior and only the GT package. I ended up paying $500 to get it shipped across the country to me, so I guess if you find the right one nearby my deal is equivalent to $5300 off MSRP. Not the best of the group, but I got exactly what I wanted with only 39 miles on the odometer.

jcharm,
Any luck finding a dealer in So Cal that will work on the price for you? I'm interested in an 05 RX8 as well and got really excited with the posts about $8K off MSRP, but no dealer is willing to even go $5K off right now.
