Question How much should I pay?

I am down in San Antonio and have been looking into buying an RX-8. I have found one that is selling for 20,098. It is a base model 6-speed. No leather, no sunroof, no Bose. It has 27,000 miles.I have haggled with the dealer quite a bit, but they swear they can't go lower. The reason I ask is I have found a few on ebay near S.A. (less then 200 miles) for around 19,000-20,000 that either have fewer miles or more options or both. The ebay listings were dealer listings, not private. I just don't want to realize in 6 months I could have gotten alot more for my money. Also all the 8's have a warranty to 36,000 miles right? If I buy it used can I go to Mazda and buy an extended?

due to the 05's going for $8g off MSRP I would say that lowered the value on any RX8 at least $4g and you should bring that info to the dealers... say hey I can get a loaded 05 new for 24g... and 30k mile on an RX8 is 1/3 the motor's life expectancy.

Tell the dealer if they can't lower the price then you will take your business else where. You can find a much better deal. That's too much for a base model. You can get a GT Edition (all options) with around 15k miles for $21,000. Don't buy the first RX8 you see.

According to cars.com the MSRP on an rx-8 is around $26,000... where can you get this car for $8,000 off of that?

you cant .. there is maybe total of 30 cars that got sold with significant discounts .. and no that doesnt bring the car value down that much .. it did for a while but not anymore .. get it through your heads .. mazda restored their pricing .. and now market dictates pricing again .. ppl on the street wont have to take 5-10k hits anymore on tradeins since there are ppl on the street trying to buy em .. and they expect to pay more

if you guys dont get this .. then youre basically screwing yourself .. and handing money to the dealers .. who are just waiting for fools like you .. the ultimate price dictator for an avg buyer is kbb or edmunds or whatever else which is not completely deflated yet

again the promo period lasted for a month or two and ended .. lucky those who got on the deals but thats pretty much where it ends

of course there are going to be people that love the car and are willing to pay shitload for it and ppl who absolutely got fed up with the car and will trade it in just to get it out of their drive way .. but im talking about avg buyer/sellers should still see used 8 in say the 19-26 range .. and if somebody tells me 8k off .. i'll simply tell him to go and find

youngun, you obviously have to squeeze as much as you can from the dealer .. you never know how much he picked the car for .. so just work at it .. but negotiations only make sense when you have some ground .. when you tell them you can get new for 8k off .. he'll be like where .. and you just look like a dumb *** and end up paying more

Well anyone looking at used right now should be considering a new 05. The MSRP on a base manual RX8 is $27,500. Invoice is about $25,500. With $4000 in rebates that puts it down to $21,500. Add some options and you are still below what KBB says a 04 with 30,000 miles on it should go for.

I recently purchased a new '05 6spd with sport package and CD changer for well under $22k. I am not sure about incentives expiring and such but obviously 05's are not going up in value so if you can find one on the lot, see what you can do. $4000 under invoice should be acheivable from a good dealer as long as you don't mind using Mazda american credit for any additional incentive they will offer.
