How much should I pay for used 2005 6MT GT?
I see these wildly optimistic prices on used 2005 RX-8 6MT GTs from dealers and private parties. I think everyone agrees that the resale and new market for RX-8s is very very soft. I am in no dire need of an RX-8 so am biding my time for the right opportunity.
What do you think is a fair price for a 2005 GT with around 8K-15K miles?
The lowest I have seen is around $22,900.
Thanks!

Glad I'm not the only one thinking the dealers are crazy. Found a 05 MT w/3300 miles and they asked $26,995 - a few hours later and they were down to $24,700 as the bottom line.
This guy had:
Touring Pkg
Appearance PKG (gold logos?)
Sunroof
Spare
Am I crazy for turning it down or should I keep looking?

You might want to check this site a little closer. The $26,000 was a good deal for a new 2005 a while ago.
I think for a used 2005 you should do better.
And yes they were GTs.
Best deal now would be a new 2005 still on the lot. Be harder to find what you want, but if you can do a used 2005 for $26k, a new one would be better all around. Especially if you don't get someone elses break-in mistakes on the engine.
And I think it is worth it to get a manual transmission.

Thanks for the replies so far. Everyone is confirming what I thought--that a used 2005 should be starting around $20K-21K.
I think all the new 2005s are nearly gone in California. If anyone has any Cal dealers with new 2005 inventory, please let me know.
It's a pain looking for out of state cars because the Calif. DMV considers a car new with 7500 miles or less and thus would need the Calif. emissions package. If it's over 7500 miles, the car doesn't need it.
Personally, I think any RX-8 automatic is a waste. It's an engine that is poor suited to an automatic. If someone wants an automatic, they would do better to get a car with more torque or learn to shift!

What should I offer?
2005 GT MT with about 11.6K miles asking $20K. Bought Nov. 05. Stock with MS rear bumper, but no spoiler or other options. Original owner with service records. The two front tires are below 50% tread.
Said the Mazda dealer near him offered $18K. Should I offer $19K?
