I am also interested in what people are paying for their RX-8. I am planning to buy one in a month or so - looking for a 2005, six-speed, no options, and purchase price and loan information would be very useful.

After 2 years of going crazy over this car, finally bought it!
I joined this forum like 2 years ago, and since then I've been crazy about this car. I test drove one when it came out, and also last year when the 2005s came out, but I just didn't feel it was the right time for me (was about to graduate from college, started a new job, then had a baby on the way, etc). In hindsight, I wish I had bought it sooner, but I don't have any regrets. Recently I figured it was time to stop driving that beat up old '96 Civic I've been driving for the past 4 years.
As far as the deal is concerned, I went in there with a mindset of how much I was going to pay, and ended up getting what I thought was an even better deal. I had my S-Plan pin in hand and was expecting to pay $2500 below the S-Plan price after the rebates. I was expecting to buy an MT GT with spoiler, and appearance package. They didn't have one with a spoiler, and the only MT GT with an appearance package they had also came with that spare tire kit. To make a long story short, I ended up getting the car for about $3000 below S-Plan. The car had 13 miles on it too, and was in the show room, which made me even happier. I guess as long as you go into the deal knowing how much the car's worth, and what you're willing to pay, you'll walk out with a good deal.
I think the deal was pretty fair, and I'm very happy with the car. Having loads of fun driving it. I was very pleased with how I was treated at the dealership, and I guess they deserve a plug (Star Mazda/Subaru in Orlando, formerly Classic Mazda Motorcars). I'll most likely buy all of my Mazdas/Subarus from these folks in the years to come.
Here are the details:
MT GT Winning Blue Metallic, spare tire kit, cargo net, appearance package, rotary accent package
Good luck with your hunt!

I haven't bought one yet. I test drove back in April, but decided to wait for year-end incentives. Right now, they are offering $2K under sticker plus $2,500 in rebates. There's plenty of 2005's left, so I'm going to see if there are any additional incentives in November.
I still have a 1.5 years left of pharmacy school, but this would make my 50 mile commute to school so much more enjoyable.

I am also waiting for the year-end incentives and the prospect that lots of 2005s will be left toward the end of the year with salespeople eager to get rid of stock, particularly when the cold and snow hits us here in the beautiful Northwest. Where are you finding $2,000 under sticker and $2,500 cash back?

My 2002 Focus is actually appreciating in value as people are switching to fuel efficient cars. Right now, I have about $2,500 in equity towards my trade.
