I could possibly be getting a 8 and I need advice please
Hello everyone this is my first post I'm interested in purchasing a 2004 Mazda RX-8 with 90,000 miles and it had a new engine replaced from 12 k miles ago because it flooded do you think this would be a good purchase for somewhere under $10,000....once again with a little more details....2004 Mazda RX-8, silver in color, black & gray interior, sunroof, automatic with auto stick, 90k miles, excellent condition! New engine approx 12k miles ago, new tires less than a year ago, dealer maintained, has all paperwork, still under Mazda powertrain warranty. Thank you for any help and suggestions....Also I'll be making around 1200.00 a month after taxes and I'd be paying for it in full...but the only thing is I'd have to replace the coolant system and No mechanic around my area will work on the rotary engine so the closest accredited mechanic would be about 4 hours away...so I cant get the car examine bumper to bumper really...thats whats making me unsure about getting it...I just have to go off of all of there receipts and their word....and a test drive...

If you are only pulling in 1200 a month then you should really stay clear of this car. Thats barely enough money to cover gas + oil if you use this car as your DD. Let alone regular maintenance.
Answer these questions first for me to help you get an accurate answer.
Do you live with parents/relatives for free or rent?
How many bills do you have and what do they total to a month?
Have you price checked insurance premiums, if so how much is it?
Average round trip from home to work in miles?
Do you go to college?
Also please read throughout this whole thread.

I would avoid this car. It sounds like it has a lot of problems. Also it is a 4 speed automatic.......... are you ok with getting out dragged by suvs? Don't just jump on the first one you see find a good one before buying it.
If you do intend on buying this car. Make whoever is selling it fix the cooling system and get it inspected by a mechanic. I would also not buy a car with the only person who can work on it being 4hrs away......... thats a pretty big towing bill if something goes wrong.

Still I believe 1200 is cutting it close. But without a car payment you should be ok. But honestly stick out some more and wait for another car to come around. 90k miles and you only have 1 year or 10k miles left on the engine warranty.

still the 04 4speed auto 8's with clueless rotary owners are prone to multiple engine replacements.
The engine could be great or slowly on its way out again. It all depends on how the owner takes care of the car. If they treat it like a regular piston motor, then I would be very cautious of the car.
Plus you should get something with a little more head room than 10k miles.. Unless you want to learn how to rip apart and rebuild a rotary yourself.
