Incentive PRE or POST tax?

The incentives on an 04 model are $4000 until Feb 28th.

The dealer wants invoice+taxes, and then subtract the $4000.

Is this correct?

Also, is buying for invoice price on an 04 a good deal right now?

Thanks for any responses.

Sorry, not true in Washington State. Incentives are post-tax. I asked the question and then checked independently.

Incentives

Nice they're offering 4k back? Think they might offer more after the 28th?

Might be a good time to buy.

I have a question about incentives like this though...I requested a quote from some dealers and one guy comes to me saying 'i've got an 04 fully loaded for 29k, the msrp is 32000 but there's a 2 grand incentive and another 1,000 for something else.'

Now, people say 04's are selling for 3-5k less than an 05, is this after incentives or before? Should I try to talk this guy down to 29 or 28 and then bring up the incentives, etc?

Thanks for the input guys.

Called Mazda USA. The said incentives are post tax, at least in New York State. Sigh.

The car I'm buying is: Black/Black, GT, Nav.
After all costs, taxes and rebates, the 05 is about $32,000, and the 04 is about $27,500.
The difference is $4500. And I plan to keep the car until my son can drive it in 13 years.

Any thoughts on the deal?
