Lease Expert Question,,Redo lease??
Last Friday (July 30th) I leased my RX8 with Mazda's special 2 year/$4250 off lease deal. Originally I had presented a co-signer available if my credit didnt make the grade for the lease. My dealer rep told me that my credit satisfied things on its own and a co-signer would not be necessary.
That Friday I signed all the lease paperwork and drove the car home. The following Wednesday (Aug 4th) I got a call from my dealer rep and he left a message telling me that Mazda wants the co-signer to be on the lease asks me to redo all the paperwork, etc. I was excited about just myself being on the lease as I am working on improving my credit and really want to leave the lease the way it is.
What are your thoughts?? Any experts out there know where I stand with this one??
Thanks,
BillyC

When you took the car before all of your paperwork was approved by the financial institution (Mazda), you probably signed some type of document indicating that, in the event that your info didn't check out, you would either return the car or get was was needed to make the lender happy (the co-signer).
Sounds like you will need a co-signer if you want the car. Doesn't matter what the dealer rep says. He isn't a lender. You may want to see if the dealership's business manager can lean on mazda a bit. Other than that, you really have little choice.
And you can still improve your credit with a co-signer -- as long as the payments are made.
