Looks like I found the car I want.. need some advice though.
I found a red RX-8 that I drove today, and I'm still not tired of seeing the car, or finding anythign I don't like. THe only thing it has that I'm not a fan of is the leather. Living in the Midwest just makes me appreciate the more regular temperature feel of cloth.
Here's what we have:
'05 Winning Red RX-8
Grand Touring Package
Rear Spoiler
Spare Tire Kit
MSRP: 32,435 (34,559 after env fee, etc)
Sale sticker price: 24,500ish
I will be possibly trading in my Grand Prix GTP, which I think I could get around 8k for on the open market. (New Price = 16.5K)
Is it realistic to get a car for this amount? They really seem anxious to move this car, so I'm curious what bargaining leverage I might have. I really didin't want the leather, so I would think this would be a good start, as well as no need for the tire kit. Would they just laugh at me if I said I'll buy right now at 20k? Maybe appearance packages don't cost them much and I could get that tossed in? I also noticed the center tunnel had a scratch on it, and the right door handle had a decent chip on it. What can these do for me?
They also said they could push my first payment back anywhere from a month to three months, which would be great since I'm in the process of moving to a new place and any delay would be great. Does this have any bad side effects?
Thanks for any ideas, I'm incredibly nervous about doing something stupid, so the more sure I am about where I stand, the better.

asking for another 4500 off is pushing it, and they would probably laugh. is it brand new? miles?
i think thats a great price. but if you want them to throw in an appearance package while knocking off 4500 off the price, i don't think you'll be going far.

You could try asking for the apperance package at the current price, dont try asking for 20k... 24k is already a good deal, if apperance package dont work, try for more for your trade in.

Do you think 18k plus my car would fly, without anything else added on? (FYI, KBB shows my car in the 5-7k range as a trade in, my car being in closer condition to the high end)

1935 lbs. FTW!
I don't think you can get a grand touring for 20K, I paid 22 out the door for a sport with appearance and rotary accent packages and as far as I know I got the best deal on a leftover 05 in the country so far (10K off msrp). I think 24 out the door is a very good price for a GT package car.
