Mazda employee discount at a dealership near me.

Hmm, looks like that dealership is just trying to benefit from the "employee discount" craze going around.
Probably just a few vehicles that they're selling near invoice...
Might be worth looking into for anyone in the area.
Checked Mazda's site this morning, still no official rebates / incentives for the RX8. (on purchases)

Mazda dealer here calls their Internet price, Employee Price. I haven't shopped them to verify but it just looks like a quick way to stay in the game. The stats are that the employee pricing was the most successful GM incentive ever and their market share for the month increased enough that they extended the promo for another month. Now that all the American brands are offering employee pricing the GM lead will flatten and they'll have to come up with something else, like better cars.

Invoice Pricing is so common these days it's no big deal to market it as something different to get traffic up.
I also find that price on the RX-8s pretty funny. You have to qualify for EVERY existing rebate and direct mailing out there -- Loyalty, Student, Military, MAC Cash, and 3 Direct Mailings. And, technically, you are not allowed to combine the $500 direct mailings and they've got three of them in that price. You can mail them off to Mazda to get refunded, and you might get them, but some people don't.

yeah, but if that's what an auto costs...a manual couldn't be more than 21 or 22, stripped...I know the ad says equipped, not stripped, but I'm sure people on this forum would beg to differ

I agree - pretty bogus. A local Chrysler dealer was advertising low prices and in the fine print you had to be a current Chrylser lease customer to get that price (using a repeat lease rebate). That is a NARROW market.
