My RX8 Experience
I've been reading this site for more than a year now. Bought my car when they first came out. Took the rebate. Looked really hard at the Z but stayed with the Eight. (I think I may have missed the bullet by not changing to the Z.)
After more than 13 months of driving I haven't had a single problem. No hard starting, no unusual performance, sounds etc. Followed up all the upgrades and have the M flash which has greatly improve day-to-day drivability. Purchased Dunlop winter tires. The car has good snow and winter traction. (I live in Denver.)
Gas mileage has stayed at an average 20 MPG combined local/highway. Oil consumption is at about 1 quart per 1000 liles maximum. I check every two - three fill ups.
The car handles beautifully. Speed and acceleration are good enough for me to keep up with all but the most fanatical drivers. Build quality was good from the start and no rattles have developed.
All in all it has what a good car should provide, no surprises or huge dissappointments. My conclusion is its a beautifully balanced piece of engineering well worth the price. I guess I've been lucky...knock wood!
