Possible to get Sport Package MT for $26k?
Hey guys,
I live in Raleigh and the dealer close to me has tons of RX-8's on the lot. Do you think I could get them down to $26k for a manual RX-8 w/ the Sport package? Thanks!

I paid around 29K for my sport package with a spare and rotary accents. Of course you can probably tell with that price, I preordered. So I would imagine you could probably get the car for around 26K now. Especially if the color you are looking for is on the lot.

I got the package you mentioned by faxing my requirements to the sales managers at ten different dealerships asking for their lowest price. I made sure to tell them what I was doing to increase the chances that someone would lowball the others and sure enough one of the six responses offered the car for $25,500US. It worked like a charm and I didn’t have to deal with any salespeople.

I paid $27k in Durham in late 2003 for MT and sport package plus 6 speed changer and they had to go get it, so I think you can get 26k now if it is on the lot. Millenium Mazda in Durham offered me the best deal, but I didn't work real hard on the others.

Ooops, I have the touring package, not the sport package. Because I preordered, I paid exactly MSRP for everything. Once again you should be able to get the car for around 26K. Good luck. I would definitely give Roundeye's method a try.

Unfortunately, I feel the answers above are correct. I paid 29,940 for my sport with only the cargo net as an option. Of course, I was just a bit anxious to get it. timing is everything. I not only got one of the first in the country and state and the first at the local dealer, I had it at the Miata's at the Gap at the end of July. It was worth it, although it was painful a month later to see my dealer discounting them by over 1000 for GT pkgs sitting on the lot. I wasn't much in a position to demand a lower price. The summary of all that is why I had considered selling back to Mazda with the buyback program and buying a new one at a lower price. But - I feel I have one of 'the good ones'. If you get it at 26,500 to 27,000 you're getting a great deal!

Yup, invoice on a sport MT is $26,200, I think, which is what I payed. I went into a dealership that had many loaded GT models on hand, with several being discounted $3700. So, I offered them $3k below MSRP on a sport package (which came to $25,400, I think), and they came back with the invoice, and said "this is the lowest we can go." I said OK.

This is a quote I received on a Sport Pkg. via email from the internet manager at Roswell Mazda in Ga.
"$25,527 for a 6 speed RX-8 with no options. MSRP is $27,200"
I highly recommend visiting the websites of your local dealerships and contact the internet sales person.
I purchased my Touring/Appearance Pkg w/ rotary accents for $300 under invoice and he threw in the spoiler for free since I wasn't really looking for one with a spoiler.
Happy hunting!

mine w/the spoiler, 6 disc and rotary accent was around $26,500 after the college grad rebate. invoice was ~$26,900, if youre not looking for any of the options id say you can, but youll have to be hard-lined and dont accept anything over invoice. the dealer will still make money if its sold at invoice b/c of holdback (usually 2-3%)
