Progressive doesnt like RX8?

More like
The OP said he is "might have to" pay 800 a month, so 800 x 1/2 year = 4800
he said 8 times of what he paid every 6 months. so that means ... 800 for 1/2 yr

Well he responded to a premium of $42/month. so if that's 8 times more than what he pays for a 6 month term then he's paying about 42*6/8 per six months = 315 every six months?
I guess i understood it that he paid 42/8 for six months originally

when u say that's nearly 8 times what you pay...it means that he pays 8 times more than what you pay
you should have said "that's nearly 1/8th of what i pay every six months" :-P
(sorry...studying for my exam right now...and these wordings are how they try to trick us )

sorry it might be semantics but that's not what u originally stated

One of the few good things about aging is that your insurance goes down (provided you don't get any tickets... my last one was 4 years ago). I have Progressive and I pay 125$ a month for full coverage on 2 cars. Of course they tried to screw me when I added the RX-8 (they were gonna jack me for almost 200 a month), but I shopped around online and found a much lower rate and told them they could either match it or lose a customer. They matched it. Makes you wonder what insurance is really worth, eh?

I have Progressive on my current car, and I'm looking at getting either an RX8 or a Mustang GT.
Progressive wants about $600 for six months on the GT and $900 for six months on the RX8. For the exact same coverage.
I can't believe that the RX8 is considered higher risk than a Mustang GT! Is the RX8 really expensive to repair, or something?
Anyway, yeah, Progressive does sure seem to hate the RX8 for some reason.

progressive told me at 18 that to insure my '90 RX7 TII would be around 400 a month. i couldnt even laugh at them on the phone i was so blown away, so i scoffed (yes SCOFFED) and told them to shove it. now i pay practically nothing with AIG. i would check them out if u r looking to switch.

For some of you younger drivers......IF you have an aunt or uncle, grandparent, anyone that has USAA.......get on their policy for 6 months....then get your own. I am older, but I've been with them since I was in my late twenties. For my 06' 8, an 07 Jeep Sahara 4 door, and my home, I pay 129.00 a month. The 8 alone is about 60.00....seriously. They classify the car as a four door 2 cylinder sedan! Full coverage for all vehicles and a $50.00 deductible. You can not beat that. Another thing you can do to lower your rates and have the Fog light rewire done so you can honestly say you have DRL's... When you get ready to buy a home....they can help you, and they are super great on their claims. Ex: I had just gone and spent 200.00 on groceries. We had a bad storm and lost power for 2 days....they sent me a check with no questions asked to replace the food that was lost! I'd had two claims on the 8 when others have hit my car..one had no insurance and the other old man's company refused to pay. They didn't blink an eye...and I had a bad accident about 9 years ago and did 37K worth of damage to more than one car...they never blinked!
My husband had it from the military, and now my son has his own policy because he was on ours..no military required...They also offer renter's insurance which is a must have IMO, and student discounts. Don't know if that applies to College but I imagine it would.

QFT Color means nothing.
I have had progressive for years. Been great me to. I'm 27 and I have very high coverages with a $250 deductable on both comp and coll. Rental coverage and also $1000 aftermarket parts coverage. $590/6months in a pay in a lump sum.
HOWEVER I received my renewal notice in my inbox today. Got a speeding ticket in Aug 07 and another in Jan 08.... new premium..... $1149/6months lump sum. ! !.. !! .. !! .. I called to see wtf was going on. Two different ladies made in perfectly clear that it was purely the two speeding tickets that are just now coming on my record causing the increase.

I've been getting online quotes with Mercury. RX-8 is about $2400/year, C5 Z06 (400 hp) is about $1900/year. But I put in my current policy with them, and the quote was about 20 percent higher than I'm actually paying them.

Comparing insurance rates to others is the single most useless thing you can do in life.
If you don't like your rate, call up other companies and get a quote. We can sit here all day and quote what our rates are or listen to you talk about what your credit rating is and on and on and on and on. There's not really anything you can do other than take a defensive driving class (idrivesafely.com will let you do it online and counts in mosts states) or switch companies.
