Question about purhcase :

Hey all, i'll be a owner tomorrow

But heres the deal,
I"m getting a black a/t gt w/appereance.spoiler.rotary.

Although i think i will wait on the appereance/spoiler (becuase i think i want the aftermarket parts)

Anyways, i'll be purchasing the show room one :-/ the don't have a brand spankin new one on the lot.

It has either 194 or 294 miles on it (i forget :-/)

Would you still suggest the buy or ask for a new one?

Post quick, going in the morning

(Hes also throwing in a clear coat every 6 months for 5 yrs, says it will keep the black alot cleaner) true?

Well, it depends on what kind of a deal they're cutting you. Clear coat sounds like a good deal, but not THAT good... it's basically $30 worth of wax every 6 months. Personally, I'd hold out for a bigger discount on the car.

Also realize that the A/T will not give you the best performance you can get... if you don't HAVE to get an auto, I'd suggest you hold out for the M/T.

Either way, it's a great car and you're gonna LOVE it.

Those are a lot of miles... I would hope the price is coming down for that- you never know how badly it was mistreated during break-in. Also, if you're just settling for the auto because you don't want to wait, you might be disappointed (compared to the joy of snicking through that sweet gear box).

However, what I'm wondering the most about is this clearcoat 'deal'... All Brilliant Blacks have a clear coated paint from the factory- it's not like the dealer can throw that on 'every six months'...?? Unless this is also a brand of wax or something that I've never heard of...? Sounds a little fishy to me.

Anyway, I personally would never pay a new car price for anything with over 20 miles on it. My black had 9 on the odo yesterday... neary 100 by today : ).

Good luck!

There have been some threads about how badly demo cars are abused by salesmen or test drivers, esp if they have that many miles on them. Basically redlining with no break-in, which can trash the engine/trannie. Of course, you have the warranty but if the car has been abused they won't honor that part of the warranty. so you should get something in writing they will honor the warranty despite evidence of abuse. I don't think they will put that in writing since warranty is not a dealer thing, its from the manufacturer. So in short, I wouldn't go for it. Too risky.

Monte, you didn't indicate where you're from (that I could detect) so it's hard to know what it's like in your market but all in all it sounds like you're "settling". I bought mine a week ago, but only after about 3 weeks of shopping both online quotes and in-the-dealership quotes. I settled in on exactly what I wanted and just worked from dealership to dealership, giving each one the last best-deal to shoot at. I could do that easily because there are probably 80 to 120 new 8's on the lots in the Houston area. That, and they have probably 4 other major markets within 200 miles that they can easily swap with or order from. Lots of cars coupled with no need to rush sets you up for a decent deal.

The dealer-miles would worry me, especially after reading about abuse as referenced above. If you've got a good deal on the quote, I'd suggest getting on the phone or the internet and shopping that quote with some dealers within a 100 to 200 mile radius. It won't take an hour to do and you may get an even lower quote a lower-mileage car. It's probably obvious but when you shop, don't mention the "deal" you're getting is on a "high-mileage" demo.

The semi-annual clear-coat doesn't click with me either. I'd try to get more details about: 1) what it is (what procedure, chemicals are they using) and 2) what it's worth (what would they charge you for the service if you drove in?) Get them to show you something in the computer or from some service "menu" that identifies (and verifies) the value of the clear-coat. (The point being that they can TELL you anything.)

If you think you're eager to buy, I can assure you they're eager to sell. The biggest mistakes I've ever made in negotiating car-deals have been made when I was totally-focused on a given car and "afraid" someone could buy it out from under me. If you've got time, Mazda has cars. I mean you're about ready to spend $30,000; make sure you get exactly what you want.

Good luck as you shop and best of luck when you buy. Keep us posted.....

They are probably talking about the basic "clear coat" protectant that most dealerships try to sell you once you are in F&I so I would not let that be any part of a bargain. Yes black is a pain to keep clean but just start your car out right and use Zaino.:D

If you want one with no lower miles, see if they can locate one for you or try some other dealers but don't settle on it if it is not exactly what you want or if the miles bother you.

RX8 SCORED!

GOT IT!
Settled for Black, grand touring, 2 tone leather (a/t :-/ ), fender strakes, and every 6 months i get a free coat of clear coating they put on for 5 yrs.

Their price wans 28,950 (not even close to invoice, 27,837)

We told em we want it for 27,5 and its a done deal.

After 1.5 hrs of back and forth argueing, begging and pleeding (mostly on their end )

We settled for a Black, Mazda RX8 (200 miles.. it was dealer traded from virginia to delaware, so that would explain most of the miles)+ 5 yr clear coat + fender strakes (installed) +gt package.
For a total of 28,200 (+ tax n tags)

Sound like a good deal? they basically begged to give them a few dollars profit.

will post pics later.. put a DP, going to pick up tomorrow morning.

Jumping right in now huh?:p

I like this wing as well as the rest of the products.

The AUTOexe kit is nice too which you can see here on Vivid's site and I think they sell clear coner lenses too.

Check the RX-8 Appearance/Body Kits section for mor kits, wings, and clear corner info.

I thought dealers usually flat bed their transport instead of driving it. Anyhow, take it easy with it and then mod the car later. Mazda will not warranty the car if you get a header or catback. The early Rx8's are prone to problems and you don't want to be paying for repairs on your own.

They can’t void the warranty if u have a cat back exhaust

As long as u doesn’t touch the emissions equipment they can’t void your warranty. For example if your rotary housing would crack they can’t blame it on your exhaust
