Looks like pricing on most accessories is unchanged. And price is up a couple hundred. Also noticed that the Nav system is noted on the '05 list. You get your 8 yet?

Mmmm, looks like it's in a proprietary format. How about something accessible like .txt, .rtf, or a .pdf file? (Yes, I can use a .doc, but I prefer not to.)

wannahave - there's a guy in the classifieds forum selling a silver/touring/appearance/accent 6-speed with low miles in Atlanta. In an earlier post you were concerned about getting the payment to an acceptable point for you, maybe that one would be in your price range? You save the sales tax by getting it pre-owned.

? The price on everything changed?? I think my scan did a great job but messed up the accessories list so I’ll try doing it again. Nope, no 8 yet…

I got 7% @ 72 months for a payment of $388 but that was still too much. My wife and I spoke about it and while I wanted $330 I would accept $350 per month but that’s about $1,800-2,000 away in total price from what the dealer wants. I’ll keep looking…

I’ll try doing it again…and let you know

OK, thanks for the heads up…I’ll check it out!

Are you sure about that? I called and they said that when I registered the car I would have to pay the taxes…BUT, maybe they thought it was new. I”ll call again and check…

THANKS!!!

There's taxes, and there's taxes.... By buying private-party (not through a dealer) you don't pay *sales* tax. However, there may be a one-time or repeating registration tax you have to pay regardless. That has to do with registration of the vehicle, regardless of how you got it. For example, in Georgia we pay an ad-valorem assessed by the county it's registered it. I've been paying about $260-ish/year for my 99.5 GTI (the trade-off is having the lowest gas prices and best roads in the country.... revenue has to come from somewhere). On the other hand, in Delaware, you pay 2.5% of the value as a one-time charge when first registering it, then it's about $20.00/year thereafter. Of course, that's <ewww>Delaware</ewww>.....

Actually, paying sales tax when you buy from a private party depends on the state you live in. Georgia doesn't charge sales tax, but here in Utah and in Califormia they do.

And from what you're saying it sounds like Florida does too.

wow...That shows I got a pretty good deal - after taxes, with my options, it shows I'm about $2000 less than the figures on that sheet.

nice!

No, it appears the only thing the really changed was the base pricing, about a couple hundred over the 2004 S-plan documentation.

In Wisconsin, you pay "registration tax" when you apply for plates. This is a one-time fee that's paid based on the selling price of the car, regardless of whether it's new, used/dealer, or used/private party. The advantage of a private party sale is that some sellers are willing to sign you the title without filling in the selling price. Then the buyer can write in whatever selling price he/she wants, and pay tax only on the reported selling price. (This is, of course, dishonest.) The point is that you need to pay the equivilent of sales tax on any car purchase.

Ditto for Ohio. In addition, if you purchase at a dealership and have a trade, the trade-in price is deducted from the price of a new car, reducing the sales tax.
