Thanks Skythe, you are correct. I shopped around, and at my age, with my record, on this car, the cheapest I could find was to buddy up w/ the fam and become part of their policy. Plus, now that I have another ticket that they dont know about, if I switch companies, I fear my rate will rise.

heh...ummm.....it doesn't matter if you switch or not. You're insurance company is prolly gonna find out, and that rate will magically increase and your *** is gonna be in a fire. Unless you're like me and a clerical error worked in your favor and 12+ speeding tickets never showed up on your record.

WTF you think 262 for 6 months is steep? That's like 44 bucks a month, even for liability that is dirt cheap. You must be a 60 year old man and the 8 is your 5th car or something if you think those rates aren't good.

When I lived in the states I was paying $140 a month for liability for a 1993 Honda Civic Coupe. Now I have a 2004 RX8 Revolution and I pay 1000 euro (about $1200) a year for Full Coverage.

I'm 25 been driving since 1998

22 - Driving since I was 16. This isn't my first time, but I've been over a year since I last had coverage (thanks Iraq!) In the military and can PROVE that car is only used for pleasure because I open my door and there is my shop like 30 feet in front of me. I claim low mileage every year, defensive driving, etc etc. And I learned a lot this month, here's why.

Shop Insurance companies against each other. The first six months will suck ***! (I had 2 speeding tickets, no accidents, in November of last year) $1335 for the first six months.

Right before my renewal one ticket fell off my record AND I have now had continuos coverage for six months or more, I call Geico and they quote me $800 for six months. I call my CURRENT insurance carrier back (who quoted me $1100 at the renewal) and told them Geico was quoting me $800 and USAA came down to $737 for six months. Sweet ***, my rate almost dropped in HALF. So I can proudly say "I saved 15% or more by *ALMOST* switching to GEICO" Hells yeah.

If you do go out on your own policy, start driving like your grandmother and stop getting tickets. And just hold out during those first 6 months, it'll suck. Hell, even 3 months into it start calling around and see if you can do any damamge to that premium.

The sooner you pay off the car the sooner you can get just liability.

$1335? eh..... I would have loved that. With only 1 ticket that was 3 months away from being "ignored," and no accidents. My best quote was $417 a month WITH a $735 deposit. AND that was only for a 6 month policy. $2820 for my first 6 months of insurance. Boy that was fun. It was prolly good for me. If I didn't have to pay 400 dollars just for insurance I woulda had a brand new something that I woulda been speeding my *** off in. It's not that I didn't speed in the car I got, but not as much, becuase it didn't move as fast.

Damn, some of you guys pay an arm and a leg for insurance. I'm 23 and I pay $1100 a year. I would have never gotten the 8 if I had to pay $400 a month. That's almost as much as the monthly payments for the car!

try to shop around using the free quote system of online insurance. I recently checked quotes at www.insurancepaylite.com they have fast quoting system, They’re using an auto coverage analyzer where you have to answer a few question about your financial standing, automobile condition, etc. From this information it will generate what category of coverage you need.

Actually have found the insurance low on the Rx8, in fact compared to my old car a Protege5 it only went up 5 bucks a month (140ish)

Why? They classify it as a sedan.
