I've had my 8 for about a month and just plain LOVE it!!! I looked at all the choices available in todays market and only the RX-8 stood out of the crowd. I know there are faster cars out there, but to me it all comes down to one thing. When you walk outside and get goosebumps cause there's one sexy car in the driveway and it puts a smile on your face.

It's all personal preference. I went for the sex appeal. Are there faster? Yes. Better looking? You bet (There are exotics that are just sweet...but out of my price range! )

Just my 2 cents...

I hate when people say "looks are subjective" when anyone makes the comment that RX-8s look better than STIs.

Fact of the matter is, if you randomly polled 100 people, most of them would give the nod to the 8 in the looks category. If you don't think this is true, you're an idiot....sorry to be the one to break it to you.

That's cute, now can you honestly come up with a valid argument for looks not being subjective? You proved in your very own post that they are subjective, by saying "most" people would think the 8 looks better. What about the rest of the people, does their opinion not count?

Well good luck with the 8, I hope it’s everything you’re looking for. I didn’t mean to give you crap, but I did the same swap, just in the opposite order.

I was personally disappointed with the 8, and I would be glad to provide you with my laundry list, I just will not do it in a thread, people tend to get offended. I also can cue you in on some of the things I miss (aka the good stuff) PM me here, or hit me up on IWSTI same username.

On a side note, I’m shocked that IKE didn’t bring up the survey where people called the RX-8 one of the 10 ugliest cars on the road. Please note the IMPREZA didn’t make that list.

10 ugliest? Not according to Click and Clack. I Trust them more that Wards Auto.

was there anything you like about owning the rx8? haha doesn't seem like you had an enjoyable time with the car. Sti is a great car, but there are a lot of things I do like about the rx8.

Guess the STI boards must be slow if you have to troll over here. On the Champ Car forums we call people like you Pksull, GOMERS.

I don't troll, most of my threads since I got rid of the 8 have been positive. The guy was asking for an opinion about making the move, and I gave mine. I never said the 8 was a bad car, just not as good as the STI. Whether your guys want to admit it or not, the STI is a better car than the 8.

So when you say "better" you really mean "faster" right?

power is defintely no contest, but when I drove one the dam shifter was horride compared to the 8. Just one of the little things i like about the 8 better.

You see more sti because they are known to have more power I think people like that fact.

The difference being, I DON'T troll on your boards because I couldn't give a **** about the STI. I didn't even know about an STI until I saw you gomers come over here and post about how much better your car was, blah, blah, blah. Don't care because it was a car I never considered. Nothing against the quality, performance, etc... of your car, but at this point in my life I need a car that looks more mature while still being fun, and that is what the RX-8 is for me.

And by the way, at no point in time is DroptheHammer questioning actual performance #'s between the 2 cars, but his experiences. I don't know how you can question his own perceptions regarding his car. How do you know his car wasn't built on a friday and was a piece of ****? You don't. No different than people here whose 8's get 12 mpg while others get well over 20mpg. You harp on and on about warming up the car or it will flood, but there are lots of us whose car has NEVER flooded, and we don't warm it up, but treat it like a normal car.

  1. Better on Gas
  2. More reliable
  3. More room
  4. Four Doors
  5. Better in bad weather
  6. Better handler
  7. Better at stoping
  8. Faster

I honestly can't think of anything substantial that the RX-8 does better, would someone care to enlighten me?

Other than the MPG and "faster" Not a real significant difference.
Did you not do your homework before you bought the 8? Cuz ya know alot of your complaints and heartache could have been avoided had you been more knowledgeable of the 8 prior to buying it. Ya think?

I come to this board because there are a lot of good discussions on here. I also owned the 8 for a year, and I became friendly with some people on this board while I was here. Why should I stop coming?

Furthermore, everything I’ve stated comes from threads I’ve read here, and things I personally experienced. I do not hate the 8, I’m just giving my opinion, something he might find relevant. For instance he thought that the 8 handled better than the STI, it doesn’t. Better he find that out now, than after he spent his hard earned money.

Why is it that you need a car that makes you look more mature? If you do things to make other people happy i.e. employers, friends and family members, than your going to be a miserable person. I can remember making the same arguments when I was on the other side of the fence, but it’s completely irrelevant.

The flooding and the gas mileage are relevant issues. Not everyone has the problem, but a lot of people do. The flooding is less frequent, but the gas mileage is almost always bad.
