My clutch pedal was creaking for a while and this morning I heard a pop from under the dash and no it doesn't grab to go into gear til about 2 inches from the floor if even that? Is it true I can get this replaced for free on recall since it's only got 62k on it, and I havent had a chance to look yet but I'm guessing it's most likely the problem. Also RR if you know anything about tranny and synchro problems could you pm me and I'll tell you what it's doing and see if you think the same thing I do.

So got my clutch pedal bracket in the mail the other day and installed it today. Man, you guys were right about it being a pain in the *** to put back in, and the whole process took me almost 2 hrs. I think if there was a step by step DIY with pictures in each step, you'd prolly get more people who are on the fence about it to jump on it.
There was nothing wrong with my clutch pedal assembly, but I figured better safe than sorry. After installing it, there wasn't really too much difference since it was ok in the first place, but for sure I noticed that it doesn't wobble like it used to and definitely feels more stiff, the good way. Overall pretty satisfied

I might possibly take it if you still have it. I need to take mine out and send a few pictures to you to see if mine is still usuable. Mine just snapped a few days ago, finally got it home to start working on it.

I am installing the clutch pedal brackets. (finally!) The welding on mine is fine there is no cracking or any signs of separation. However, I found another problem that can cause some trouble. One of the holes holding the end of the spring lost the rubber piece and the hole is being expanded by the spring. (see pic...) This is certainly not a good sign and I am blaming on my squeaking on this...I was gonna just get another clutch assembly but $210 is quite a lot...so I decide to install the bracket and see what happen first.
Well the reason that I have time to type now during installation is that I forgot to charge the drill.....
Anyway I haven't seen anyone talk about this problem, so I don't have a good idea on how serious it is.
btw the first pic is the broken hole and the second one is the 'about to break' hole on the other side..

I'd see about getting a new bushing welded in to support the spring

I got to the last part where to put the pedal back in there, and after I realize the slave cylinder is just floating on the other side of the firewall I decided to just get a new pedal from ebay...it's only a hundred bucks so I don't have to do the install again..(just being lazy lol)

My clutch squeaks both when pushing it and letting it up. Um, I took a visual look at the clutch pedal bracket and it looks 100% perfect. I pushed on the pedal but the squeaking didn't SEEM to be coming from the spring or anything relating to it. Is there some other component (perhaps a bit further in) that could be causing it? I mean, the clutch functionality SEEMS fine, but I worry that perhaps something is going wrong that may eventually be a major issue if I don't catch it sooner rather than later... I haven't really found any mention of clutch-action squeaking that is not from the pedal assembly wearing away or the spring....

Just installed the reinforced brackets and got everything mounted back up but my clutch pedal has about 3 inches of play when pressing it in before you actually get to the "firm" actual clutch initiating area. So in lamer terms, you press in the clutch, the first 3 inches are like air and then after that its firm actual clutch pressing in. Is there a way i can get rid of that 3 inches of play? and have the clutch firm from the start of pressing it?

sound like you need to adjust the pedal. many dealers are retarded and will tell you it's not adjustable so you might have to do it yourself. there is a thread for the specs somewhere around here.

It's really easy. I think all I needed to adjust the pedal is an adjustable wrench. There is a bolt on the rod pushes into the firewall. If you loosen it you can turn the rod to adjust how far it pushes into the firewall when the clutch is engaged. tighten the bolt to lock the length of the rod.
The bolt is at the end close to the clutch pedal, so it might be a little hard to see, but you can certainly do it without taking anything apart.
You can see that bolt at the third picture on the first post. It's in the middle of the picture. The grey one I think. The rod appears black in that picture.

Worked like a charm, Firm from the first mm now.
For anyone else doing this, I'll save you a little hassle and let you know.
I used a 10mm and a 12mm open end wrench.
10mm for the smaller nut closer to the firewall
12mm for the big nut closer to the clutch mechanism
the 10mm nut is welded to the bar so tightening/loosening it actually screws/unscrews the whole bolt from the hinge its attached to on the clutch side (right next to the 12mm nut)
the 12mm nut is basically a place holder.

So you unscrew the 12mm nut some and then unscrew the 10mm nut until there's no more play ( NOT TOO MUCH!! it will unscrew the whole bolt from the hinge) now tighten the 12mm nut back tight against the hinge. And you're done.
Not that hard but i figured it'd help someone in the future.

I read the overview, it clearly states " Brand new PEDAL with reinforced bracket installed" nowhere does it mention it includes a new OEM clutch pedal bracket. I guess the wording can be misinterpreted .

Replied to your email explaining whats going on. I had installed that some time ago and is indeed a new pedal. If you look at the face of the pedal you can tell it has been unused. In my error I forgot to put the pedal back in the plastic as for the explanation of it oxidizing. As for the warping it may have been damaged in shipping. Reply to my email and we can get it sorted out.

hi guys im having a weird problem with my 2004 rx8 6MT
first off i know my car hasnt had the clutch pedal recall, because i tried to take it into mazda before and all they did was lubricate it, they said they wouldnt replace my pedal because it wasnt "failing"
my car is in the shop right now because im putting on a BHR mid pipe and changing my coils and plugs and someone weird started happening
when my car is on, and i depress the clutch my car will not shift into any of my gears, it almost fells "locked" in the neutral position. when my car is off i depress the clutch and it slips into all gears easily
i replaced my clutch in 2010, so i doubt its that
could this be a faulty clutch pedal assembly
btw my car is over the 8yr/ but below the 100k warranty (160k km) in canada here, and i called mazda and they said since they looked at it and it was fine, the problem is now "mine to deal with"
i cant get it to a mazda dealership for them to look at it cause it doesnt drive, but if i replace my pedal and that solves the problem would i need the whole pedal or just the bracket?
and if this solves the problem could i get reimbursed?

I felt a little pop today under the hood when I was shifting and then there was two slight changes. There is a squeaking noise when I decompress the clutch, not when I compress. I will try to lubricate it. There is now less firmness when I do press on the clutch. It feels different than it did yesterday. I am thinking I am an ideal candidate for the bracket reinforcement? I am just past the 8 year warranty and don't want to have a broken pedal in the middle of the freeway.
