Trailing to leading (highest point) is 3 degrees. Trailing to leading (lowest point) is 18 degrees. Currently. Not in the pic. It has been in this position since 4/2
Exedy Twin disc still hasn't arrived. Also, does anyone have any tips for removing super stuck side seals? Still haven't got those out. The rest of the rotors are in spec, it would be a shame to waste them.
Have you tried setting the rotor face with the bad side seal in a inch or so of ATF for a day or two? This may loosen up the carbon enough to get the seal out... Hopefully its just locked up and the grove is to spec.

Hey all, getting a few more parts in this week, things have been a little slow on the parts side. Throttle body was delayed and coming in soon, trans still needs to be swapped, and lastly I will soon be ordering a high capacity/ low profile 13brew oil pan from rx8performance. Between that and a surge tank I hope to have no oil nor fuel starvation problems.
I bought some S4 rotors for the low compression (decided to try and run a bit more boost ~ low 20's). Info for this seems to be a bit of 'he said she said' so I decided to come and ask some of the vets here of their opinion. Below is a pic for reference. Obviously I will replace the front counter weight (#2) to match the rotors. On atkins site there are different washers/bearings for 92- years than the 93+. What other parts in that assembly need to be matched to the? Would it be just #1/2 through 4?

Hopefully the trans will be swapped this weekend if there aren't any delays. Have an Rx8performance high capacity oil pan with trap doors being made as well, possible an oil filler neck.
I will certainly consider lightening the rotors, we will see how much it costs =)
5 Spd trans, ss clutch line, and exedy twin disc went in today. If you have questions this is a good time to ask! Stock cat went on so I can go pass emissions. That will be off as soon as it can be. Definitely prefer the blaring loud AP midpipe.
A few things came in yesterday. Ordered them during the week, surprised they came in so fast.

Edit: Rx8Performance 13B-REW High Capacity Baffled Oil Pan. Quite a mouthful. Another positive experience with Scott. Having him make a custom oil filler neck as well.
As for the build, I am about half in on parts. I expect that another 6 months will give me the rest of the funds to finish up on parts, then I might be able to drop it off, give a down payment, and save more as I go. That means I will really must get back to cleaning up the engine and get it assembled. Thinking of buying a die grinder and a pancake air compressor from HF and some nice carbide heads. The dremel just takes too fookin long.
Things acquired recently:
-Thermostat
-B&M short shifter for Rx7 FD. TAKE NOTE NOW AND FOREVER. The B&M short shifter does not fit the Rx8 5Spd. I am going to have my brother machine mine to fit. The unit lines up fine, and so does the plastic o-ring on the ball joint on bottom of the short shifter, however the bracket that o-ring fits into is slightly different. I could not shift into 2nd, 4th or reverse.
-Weathertech rain guards
-Custom wing supports & bracket completion
Correct the B&M replica, and yeah, nbd in the long run, I was just hoping to get it done sooner rather than later because I have a tear in the boot on the shifter and there is some chatter near that area in the trans that I am trying to isolate (different from the standard twin disc chatter).

I've just read through your build thread and thought I might throw in my 2 cents here. I'm working on building a retro rotary rocket as well. Our concept is to build a bullet proof hybrid engine that will keep the RX8's front cover (and all the peripherals like A/C etc) and use the 13b rew block. We are shooting for around 350-400 reliable HP at the wheels and plan to keep the RX8 transmission until it fails and then replace it with a RX7 5 speed. In this build we are using low compression 87 TII rotors with 3 mm apex seals. We just finished the mods to the front cover and found that a milled 12A counter-weight now clears all the internals of the RX8 front cover and balances the rotors perfectly. We have balanced the rotors to within 2/10's of a gram and the counter-weights also to within 2/10th's of a gram. So the whole rotating assembly is now balanced to near perfection. We didn't lighten the rotors although they have been clearanced. The housings will have mild porting on the primaries. we have done proprietary CLR cooling mods to the housings. This first project car will serve as a test platform to prove the concept. We will be using an adaptronic piggy back computer. Rather than pre-mixing, we will use a sohn adapter with the stock RX8 OMP on the front cover. All high tech functions of the car including the fly by wire throttle, ABS, electric power steering, Electric OMP, will be preserved with this build. Although this motor is capable of being boosted up to 850 HP on e85, we are keeping it at 50-70% of capacity for daily driver purposes. If everything works out we plan on selling turn key RX8s as well as kits which will have all the parts for a drop in swap. Best of luck with your build, and as others have commented, if you are going for big power and high RPM's, you really should consider balancing the rotating assembly to protect your investment.
It looks like the counterweight for the TII and the rew are nearly the same. And infact, the rear counterweights are the same size as well throughout most of that range. So why can counterweights not be changed if you keep the respective weights the same? Hoping to get some understanding on that topic.

Suffice it to say that the two front covers (renesis v 13 b rew ) are completely different. The whole trick to using the renesis front cover instead of the 13b rew is to fabricate a counterweight that will fit within the renesis front cover that also must be modified by milling out space for the counterweight. We've found the 12a counterweight fits best and has sufficient weight to use any rotors.
We're currently working on the a/c fitment using the RX 8 compressor. Need to fabricate a bracket for rear mounting bolt but looks like it will fit. OMP also not interfering with intake.

My renesis front cover has been milled out to accommodate the REW counter weight.
There's many angles to complete this swap, glad to see a different one.
Just a couple of things from watching your video...
Adaptronic can be set up to run 4 or 6 injectors so you can run the stock FD lim but it makes it extremely tight between the lim and firewall, some BFH correction needed.
But yes the Xcessive lim does give you more clearance at a price.
