A #@$ Cobalt SS just dusted me... advice!
So, my previous car was a 2002 Camaro SS. I mean, needless to say, very very fast straightline - but not safe, didnt handle for squat, didnt stop for jack, etc.
Three times, a Cobalt SS just dusted me in my RX8. I mean... Not obliterated, but pulled away from me MUCH more than I feel comfortable.
How can this POS car smoke the 8 so bad?
So, do I finally grow up and realize that... well... I cant always be the fastest car on the road - or do I spend money and do something about it?
I mean, making my car go faster doesnt make me more of a man. Or solve world peace, or global pollution... But... Man that was so frustrating!
He was a retarded driver, but when it came to driving fast - straight - well, it worked, and it worked well. See, I wouldnt have a big problem if it was a Porsche. Or a BMW. Or something of quality. But a POS Cobalt!?!?
I could see him top off time and time again at roughly 117, where I started to get equal, and slowly catch up - but honestly, at that speed, you're going too fast to 'catch up'. 125 is where I call it quits, depending on visibility, time, conditions, etc.
******* Cobalts.

It's a pretty peppy car. And he could have done a few minor mods to get it faster.

You're driving the WRONG car if you think you want to be the fastest on the road.
Buy a WRX STI, EVO or Z if you want more power. Don't you know your own car or read the board?
You need to keep up on your sporty cars. The Cobalt SS is a killer starting around $20K.

I dont really consider the rx8 as fast...more like quick and nimble...
I did the research, loved the looks, dealt with the flat torque curve, and am living with mpg..it is what it is.
When it comes to cars like Evo, STI, GTO, srt4, 350z/G35 and even cobalts....i really dont think the 8 is really in their league performance wise...
but hey, atleast you can smoke 55% of new car models released in the US!
now if only we could take on some of those damn mini-suv drivin psycho soccer moms....

it all depends on who you ask i suppose.
lets say we put those 6 cars on a track, fully stock, with equally gifted drivers, where would the 8 place?
now lets do it again, same as above, but give each car $1000 in mods, where would the 8 place then?
Dont get me wrong, I love my 8, she's beautifull, inside and out, nimble, fun to drive and practically glued to the road, but I'm not gonna try and say she's a fast car as far as sports cars go.
