search the following:
Pettit Racing
Hymee
or just drop by the aftermarket performance section (and subsections). All relevant threads are on the first page(s)
and 7.5 is the best you'll ever see stock.

Take it from me a previous owner of an auto 8. Just don't get one. Over time you slowly regret it. It's not a bad car at all it drives nice, but now that I have a manual I regret buying the auto.

Take it from a current owner of an auto 8. Get one if that's what you want. 68k miles and 3 years with no regrets. . There's absolutely no reason to regret a vehicle purchase (well, maybe if you get a lemon). There's this thing called a test drive.

I have no problem with my AT, and do not intend to switch. I test drove the manual...I just don't find shifting adds much to the experience for me.
Most people will say that the MT is more fun and better in general.

I tried taking the convenient route, and while automatic was more convenient for my lifestyle at the time after totaling my last manual car, 2 years of owning that 4 speed automatic was enough for me. I didn't mind so much the first year, but as more time went by, I couldn't take the snail paced acceleration anymore. But I'll admit that it took SEVERAL test drives for me to really appreciate the manual RX-8. The first couple times I test drove the 6 speed while getting my automatic serviced, I wasn't terribly impressed with the performance gain because they were very brief stints where I basically just floored it down a couple roads. But on a 3rd or 4th future test drive when I actually got to take one out on the highway for a delicious 10 mile drive and really get a feel for the car, swapping to stick was a no brainer.
I sound like a broken record, but therm8 and other owners who have had their 04 ATs for three years should get a medal. And by the way...
7.5 seconds my ***.

Less maintenance with an AT and no clutch replacement, no throwout bearing problems, no gear rattle, don't need a short shifter and one less pedal to stomp on.
