05-08 Rx8 still need to warm up still engine before turn off????????????

I just got an 07 Rx8. I read on the manual. It said that whenever you start the car you should wait until the temp gauge increase untill it reaches around middle point. I have also read from some web that 04 RX8 has alot of problems about the engines. Do the later year model still have problems?????? How can we prevent it? ???? Thankssssss.

I read the manual cover to cover on my 08 and it says nothing about sitting there a long time to warm it up. The engine cuts out about 5000RPM in freezing weather until it warms. Maybe that feature wasn't in previous years causing a problem? In below zero weather I doubt the temperature gauge will ever actually reach the midway point just idling.

2008GT MT Stormy Blue with moonroof heated leather and everything except for navigation and autoclimate, currently 2000 miles

Like the original poster I think, in the back of my mind I have some paranoia that the car might only last a couple years before the engine explodes. Or that it might be unreliable, flood, or not start in the cold ect. I almost said forget it and looked for something else.

A test drive cured me of the idea of looking for anything else. After reading all the stuff here I was half expecting to go for a test drive and have it not start on the dealer lot (below zero day). Everything about the car itself is great and works flawlessly even in freezing weather. These problems talked about seem to have all been fixed.

It NEVER hurts to let your car warm up. It's precautionary, I have an 07, never flooded, but I never shut it off before taking it ATLEAST around the block to get the juices flowing.

actually it said somethingl like you shouldn't turn the engine off when it's still cold. I should have it run for a bit. I will try to get the picture of it for ya'all.

Some days ago I stalled my car for the first time when cold. Had been running for less than a minute, temperature was below 0 C. God knows I was nervous when I tried starting again. But well it started without any problems... Mine is a 05'.

I think that the starter etc. was upgraded at some point to help prevent flooding. So I guess you could say that Mazda has addressed the issue.

I've never had any issues with my '07 and I've shut it off cold a couple of times. But it never hurts to warm it up a bit or at least blip the throttle before shutting it off cold. Flooding isn't just inconvenient, it's bad for the cat (well, if you still have one).

You don't need to wait for the needle to get all the way up, if the needle is anywhere past cold it should be warm enough to start again with no issues.

I have a 2004 RX-8, and I have always waited until there was at least saw the temperature gauge start moving. I have heard of flooding issues if you don't. So far, I have had no issues.

I went to the dealer to get my oil change so I asked their service department. They said the same thing that we need to warm up before turn it off. Also he suggested that RX-8 needs conventional oil too.
